Subject: RE: Running - Dreadmill vs. OutsideScout7 - 2011-07-12 2:45 PM No, what your friend told you is not true. You do not need to increase your time. Running is running is running, doesn't matter if it was on a road, a trail, or a treadmill. Every time this comes up I always just laugh. Me and Scout7 seem to be the only people that don't over think this issue. Running is running period. Yes a 1% incline will mimic a headwind, but what about a side wind or tail wind. I do 100% of my runs on the treadmill. I know it is hard to believe, but I run the same pace or faster in a race. Outside I have to deal with dogs, cars, red lights, sprinklers, curbs, glass. Outside I can just slow down and not really know it. On the treadmill I have to reach up and hit the button to slow down. Inside I can just run, zone out and run. Running outside is great for some people. Running inside is great for other people. But always remember, running is running. |
