molto veloce mama  9311   |  Subject: SNOW DAY!!!!5 inches last night, and 5-7 more today. so far, minneapolis schools are 2 hours late, almost every suburb and private school is closed for the day, but st. paulies are tough and so far they have not made any announcement. commutes have doubles or tripled, sticky snow is still coming down, a snowplow rolled, for crying out loud! just cancel school! i may keep ella home either way since the roads are really not safe. hard to believe i was did a 23 mile ride outside on saturday morning on my road bike. pictures are of the intersection we live on (both streets tend to get plowed early compared to other residential streets, since we have lights and businesses) & a view of across the street. Expert 1135  Delano, MN | Subject: RE: SNOW DAY!!!! I made it to work through that snow storm! Probably one of the worst commutes I have ever had. The snow just keeps coming harder and harder. I'm only down two employees so it might just turn into another day in paradise! |

| Master 2136 A Prairie Home | Subject: RE: SNOW DAY!!!! Awful, simply awful, if you have to commute to work. At one point, I was sliding so bad on the hwy in the middle of 2 lanes, I don't know if my car would just stall. I only wish that I could get the car out of the lot by the end of the day. |

A SNOW PLOW ROLLED! WHAT ELSE DO THEY NEED TO KNOW??? anyway, since they aren't prudent enough to cancel, we decided to have our own family snow day. called our toddler class and our teacher said 'those who can, and are smart, should just stay home'. all the big colleges have closed (other than the university of minnesota). bill still had to go to work, but he (luckily) doesn't have to travel on the freeways. i thought i would have a heart attack shovelling the stuff this morning. could only get about a square foot at a time and it was HEAVY. i'd fling it away only to have half of it stick to the shovel. bill took a photo of the front walk 5 minutes after i was done - of course, covered in another inch of snow! well, i have to go help the girls get all bundled up to go PLAY in the stuff!!!! woo hoo. |

| Elite 2515 Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea | Subject: RE: SNOW DAY!!!! Here's a little snow rant: I work for UnitedHealthcare - a monster corporation with its HQ here in Minneapolis. We've got a lot of people trying to get into work today but our state Dept. of Transportation is advising people to stay off the roads yet, here I sit at my desk. What the heck does it take to shut this place down? I suppose it doesn't matter much since I'd be sitting at home doing work anyway on my laptop but I'm sure its endlessly frustrating for those who have hard commutes in good weather and have no choice but to try to show up for work. OK, rant off. Autumn and all you other 'Sotans out there - ENJOY the snow. It'll be gone before we know it. Tom |

My boss called me this morning and said I didn't have to come to work. So that'll save me a lot of time trying to shovel out my car and slip-sliding on the ice. But now I have all day and no excuses to work on my Master's thesis...wish me luck. |

That is sooooo nice. It's 60 here and they still have the heat turned on in the building, it's blazing. I was very disappointed in this winter, since Jan only like 10 days of snow on the ground. |
