ok..i just want to throw this out there and see if anyone is interested...with the help of BTers I think we can make this an interesting challenge...

So im a science teacher and was just discussing how many miles there are from the earth to the moon. well there are 238857 miles. so i thought..maybe ill try and ride that many miles before next new years...NOT GONNA HAPPEN..would be over 650 miles a day...

So i thought maybe teams could log miles and see who could get to the moon first...

Then i thought instead of mile per mile how about min per mile. that would be 3981 hours or 165 days. would could put together teams and do either or. I could keep and excel spread sheet..and teams could email me miles/min at the end of each week.

dont know what we could do for prizes...

Let me know what you think..lets race to the moon

well I've got some big bike events planned this year and this sounds like a really interesting idea, and oh the bragging rights!

I'm in!

What a cool idea. What about trainer vs. road time? I guess if you're counting minutes it doesn't matter much. I'd be in.

Can we run too?  I seem to do more running than biking.

I'm in.  Would bike commuting count or only specific training rides?  I think logging time on BT should be a requirement like the other challenges.

I'll play if we go for minutes.  I've been stuck on the trainer a lot lately!

ok..looks like some people seem to be down. im new to BT so i dont really know how to organize it on here..and should we do teams of 2 or 3 or ride solo...it will be min...some people asked about counting run min as well..im down for that if you guys want....if you want to promote all 3 sports we can count swim mins too...so when we figure how we are going to organize this we can get started...

I don't know how to organize a challenge, either, I just got into them myself. However, I will say that this will probably have to be teams. If we're going minute based, even including all tri sports, it means over 75 hours a week, and I don't know many people who train that much!
I would contact one of the mods for some pointers on how to run a challenge, and maybe do a quick headcount of how many people we have interested. Maybe we only need one team, or two?

OK.  I've never set up a challenge spreadsheet before  but I played around and I've got one entitled shoot to the moon.  Nobody's name is one it yet and depending on how many people there are we can break into teams.  I don't have time right now to figure this all out  but we are on step closer.    If anyone else wants to take a stab at it before I can...feel free!  If there is more than one team (which I think will be fun) then we will need to think up names.  ie Tranquilty Base... Dark Side of the moon...etc...

Just my two cents, but two teams would be more challenging.

I'm decent with spreadsheets, so I could help with that.

Getting great feed back..so far it looks like 15 people have shown interest..I say we do 3 teams of 5 or try and get to 20 and have two teams of 10. were to the spread sheets for challenges get kept on this sight??I think 2 teams of ten would work out good..we can make it happen and work out the kinks for Shoot for the moon 2...Im a math and science guy so i would love to keep all time stats and records and make this a constant challenge...

This could be the beginning of a wonderful relationship....

Hey ! I want to play too!!!!  Put me on a team and let me know what we can log minutes of- biking  only, S/B/R or any other activities.  Personally I would vote for S/B/R or just Bike.  It would take longer but hell we've got 363 more days!!!!
