Creative ideas to wrap presents???

Elite  2729     Puyallup, WA |  Subject: Creative ideas to wrap presents???Just trying to get some new ideas...I did A TON of online shopping this year. So I have lots of boxes to use - - but I've always felt that buying (sometimes expensive) paper to wrap presents in...that'll just get thrown away is a WASTE of money and resources!! And 99% of the presents I give are for adults...and they're related to me...so they don't really care!! In the past I've used: - Drawings from my pre-school and kindergarten (but ran out of those) - Ads from newspaper (got that idea from my brother) - if you cut them in strips you can actually curl it! Any new ideas?? ETA: I am already aware of Justin Timberlake's idea of wrapping and gift giving... Edited by lkc01234 2009-12-17 1:01 PM |

But as a side note, it's kind of funny - now that everyone is trying to go "green" I keep getting reusable bags from races and other events. So now I have a billion of them, half of which I don't use b/c it's just me that I'm shopping for, so I never need more than a couple of them. So it seems almost equally wasteful. |

Fun Ways to Wrap Gifts #3: Satisfy Their Sweet Tooth Do you know someone who loves candy? Then use candy wrappers to wrap their presents in a fun and original way. The easiest way to do this is to buy large candy bars that have a paper wrapper. This way, the wrappers are clean and large enough to where you don't have to buy a hundred candy bars just to wrap one present. This is not only a fun way to wrap a gift, but its also fun because you have an excuse to eat all those candy bars. So -lemme get this straight...you're giving someone with a sweet tooth...empty cand wrappers??? It's like you're saying "HA HA! I really enjoyed this - too bad you can't!!" |

Glue individually wrapped hard candies (candy canes, starlight mints, butterscotch drops) to the top of the box. Wrap the box in a cheap scarf, handkerchief, dishtowel, pillowcase, or blanket (they can put the blanket in the trunk of the car for emergencies). If you're artistic, "sand paint" the box (glue and colored sand/salt) to make a picture or design). Go nuts with some tempra paint (the heavy, vibrant stuff). Make a collage from magazine pictures. |

You can get 5-10x the square yardage for the same cost compared to regular wrapping paper. Throughout the year I buy ribbons at fabric stores when they go on sale. The paper is 100% recycleable and I only ever have to have one or two rolls of paper in the house. Just need pink ribbons for the girls, red or gold for Christmas, etc. Pretty cheap compared to traditional wrapping paper as well. If I had any sort of creativity at all, I would also get some stamps and make it look more like wrapping paper, but alas, I am an engineer  |

Sometimes I wrap a present in some kind of related fabric item -- for example, if I give kitchenware, I might wrap it in some cute dishtowels. I like the look of a nicely-wrapped gift, but I also really hate the waste of wrapping paper. |

Upstairs was the accounting, marketing, enviro people and urban planners. We could all tell when an engineer wandered upstairs. |

Or Google japanese fabric wrapping and you will see some really nice examples of wrapped packages (they wrap lunches in fabric for carrying to work/school) and they are very cute/pretty too! |
