Subject: Been stood up?

So I got stood up today-not a date, but by a friend. Run4yrlif was in Atlanta today and he asked me to meet him and his wife and daughter for lunch at Chipotle. Yes, thats right, Chipotle. My place!! Well, he had my number and never called. I got his number from Janelle (runnergirl) this morning and left him a message to see what time he wanted to meet and he never called back. That wasn't very nice. Its ok though, I made a nice homemade pizza that was delicious. Much less calories than Chipotle...but still don't tease me like that. I always welcome company at my local Chipotle so I don't look like a loser going by myself all the time.

Bad Jim.

So, any good juicy stand people up stories??!? I've never been on a date situation where that happend....I want the good stuff!

I've never been stood up for a date, but when it comes to running or cycling I've been stood up plenty of times.  In fact, run4yrlif stood me up last weekend.  We were going to do a 65 mile ride.  We all went out for my b-day to eat Mexican.  I was home around 9ish and went to bed early.  Jim apparently stayed out late that night, his wife was the DD and he didn't show up for the ride because he was too hung over.  Funny thing was that he called me later asking me how the ride was.  Ttypical...if this goes public he may get fired from being our TNT coach!  Watch out Jim!

Don't take it personally Comet.  I am sure he had to get back to Augusta to snuggle up with his new kitten.  You know he likes cats.

Actaully instead of being cool nad watching Wheel of Fortune as myself, he'll be watching the chick flicks on Lifetime, curled up in the couch with his kitten, sharing icecream, with a box of tissues near by.  I can already see it now!

Well, def been stood up for training setups with friends, etc. Have never been stood up for a date, but once when my friend set me up on a blind date, I met the guy and he told me I was not pretty enough for him to stay on the date. OUCH. THe funny thing is he was not the kind of guy who had any business saying that. Although that def chalked up to a low self esteem night, I of course figured who wants to waste a night with a jerk like that anyway?

Humm, Comet, I wonder if anyone will admit their stand-up stories? I've never been stood up for a date, but once with a guy friend - we were going to go out dancing and I was all dressed up and ready to go and waiting around staring at the clock...he never called. I never did anything with that guy ever again.

I once had a guy say on a date that he asked me out b/c, he said, "I figured I could get you." Dumbass. I ate my expensive meal, drank the expensive wine, and never bothered with him again.

Well, I guess you could consider this sort of getting stood-up....A guy (let's call him Carl) who I was never even interested in had his cousing (who I worked with) ask me to the prom for him...At first I said no since I hardly knew Carl at all (I don't even think I spoke a word to him before). The cousin kept bugging me telling me how pretty and nice Carl thought I was and how it would mean so much to him if I said yes...well I caved, only to be completely ignored by Carl during the actual event! He spent the ENTIRE night talking and hanging around his ex-girlfriend and her date (I did not know he recently broken up with anybody). Later on I found out he only wanted to make HER jeolous!!! I did enjoy the night hanging out with my own friends..I was still bummed thought, I got used!

OK...I suck. Comet and I did talk about meeting Saturday at Chipotle. We talked about it last Wednesday and Thursday, about meeing after my LT test at ATS. My test got changed to the AM, and after it got changed we never firmed up a time to meet before we (wife, daughter and I) left for ATL after work on Friday. I had planned to call, but on Saturday morning realized I only had Haleys work number, not her cell. So I couldn't get in touch with her. So I suck, but only because of poor planning...not because of being an @sshole.

Sorry, Haley...

Yeah- you do suck.  Especially since you have my number, and you could have called me if you really wanted to get Comet's number.  And...what's your excuse for not returning her call?  BTW- I am still bitter that you stood me up for the 65 mile bike ride- without calling until AFTER the race!

Nah...let Janelle have her fun. I'm not going to lower myself. I apologized to Haley, she forgave. If Janelle feels like she can't get through a bike ride without me, and therefore needs to beat up on me here, so be it.

My level???   You must have forgotten that this thread was your idea Comet, alhtough I did encourage you to start it when you mentioned it.  Don't try and put the blame on me   I admit I played along and there's nothing wrong with that.  Jim has picked on me numerous times on this site and I have taken it like a champ.  Now it's his turn!  If you don't want people to make fun of you Jim, then don't stand people up.  It's that simple.  Nobody likes to be stood up, regardless of what it's for.  If you say you're going to do something, then do it.  Sorry- i know I sound harsh this morning.  I should have waited to finish my cup of coffee before repsonding so I don't sound so mean    Ok- I'm done with this thread.

OK...maybe I should have backed off on the crazy cat lady comments. But it was done in fun. I should have been more sensitive, but it came from a place of love. Bt this doesn't sound fun.

I missed the bike ride, but I didn't consider it standing you up. It wasn't just a Jim and Janelle ride. It was an organized ride with 30 or 40 other people, including a bunch from AJ's. I hardly abandoned you.

But the reason I missed it was I was out celebrating your birthday. After dinner, you said you were going to meet us downtown, but you bailed. Isn't that standing us up?

And I have to say something about the getting fired by TNT comment. That was kinda low. Janelle, you know how much I love coaching, and how much I pour into it...and you know I do it for my grandfather and my dad, and for all of the athletes I get to work with.

This is all I'm going to say about this, and from now on I'm not going to be doing any BT teasing. It's clear I hurt your feelings, Janelle, and I really am sorry about that. I didn't mean to, that wasn't my intention. Nut I'm really sorry nonetheless.  I won't do it again...you're my friend, and I respect you.

  • He told YOU that? Wow.

Maybe you could just tell him that you didn't think he was someone worth getting dressed up for. Don't worry Victoria, we know you're hot.
