Subject: Stolen Race Bib -- by a POSER!!!OK my friend Sophia, a sub-3 hour marathoner, showed up late because of unforeseen circumstances to the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. As she rushed to pin on her bib and her chip, the second bib they gave her (they give the fast people front and back bibs, apparently ) fell to the ground and was pretty much swept away by the crowd. She didn't worry about it since she only needed one to compete and started the race way behind. Sadly, she experienced a bad start and had some medical issues -- not heat-related -- that forced her to stop at mile 12.
So anyway she went on marathonfoto.com to see what few photos of her they may have taken and lo and behold there were photos of some guy wearing her lost bib!!! I verified HER number on the marathon web site that shows her splits until she finished and then zoomed in on this guy's bib to verify that she wasn't just imagining things, and sure enough, he's wearing No. 288!!! This is from the Chicago Marathon site:
Sophia XXXX | Bib # 288 | Chicago, IL - USA | Age 31 | F
Check it out:
First off, why would you do that? To look cool like you're fast? You'll be found out when you don't run 6-minute miles, so why even bother. What a poser. She's fairly to moderatly upset that some guy STOLE her bib off the ground even though it doesn't really effect her time or anything, but still, who would do that??? Really -- she said she's more amused at the poser than anything.
PLEASE don't let it be anybody from BT! My heart would sink. |
