Howdy team. My name is Brian, and I've been doing this for about a year. Right now, I'm starting to train for the Vineman 70.3 in July, and after that, IMAZ in November.

This month, I've got a half marathon in Santa Cruz and a sprint tri scheduled.

My goals for the month are:
19 Hours - Biking
27000 m swimming

Look forward to being on your team.

Hey everyone   My name is Carrie and I'm currently training for Timberman!!!! I ran the numbers for my goals the month and this is what I came up with:

Bike 12 hours
Run 12 hours
Swim 20k
6 sessions of lifting

I may increase the biking, though, if the weather gets nice.

GO PERSISTENT PUMPKINS!!!!!!!  :-)

Hi Pumpkins My goals are as follows:

swim - 7000 yards

bike - 100 miles

run - 6.5 hours

I have one race this month - Cherry Blossom 5K.  The hardest challenge for me is going to be the swimming I think.  I'll have to push myself on that one.

Heya guys...I'm Kelley and if my user name isn't much of a hint, I like to drive ambulances (totally as a hobby mind you)...my real job is in IT...boring I know...now you know why I like the boo boo box

Anyway, I've been doing these challenges since October and it's really what keeps me going.  I'm a future triathlete and have my first 5k ever coming up in early May.  My first tri isn't until late July thank goodness.  I'm slowly getting in to shape, but have a long way to go, especially for my second race in August which is a longer sprint with alot of hills on the bike (luckily July is the NJ State tri...billed as being pretty flat!).

My biggest problem is consistency so this is the best challenge I could think of this month.  I set my goals so I'd really have to come very close to making every last workout on my plan.  And I'll do it, because I haven't failed to finish a challenge yet (well, I still have 45 minutes on the bike tonight to make that true for March but that'll be pretty easy).

My goals are 14,000 yards swim, 10 hours on the bike, 30 miles run/walk, and 8 strength/core sessions.  I'm struggling with a few nagging problems with my legs (comes from being a rather big girl putting stress on muscles and joints that were rarely used the first 35 years of my life), but I'm dedicated to trying my best to not let that stop me, even if it means less running and more walking.

So, fellow Pumpkins, I'm looking forward to a great April with you guys!

Having worked in IT for more years than I care to remember, I can imagine that driving an ambulence is a lot more fun. How do you do that and train and do your paying job at the same time? It sounds like a lot of work.

Hey team, I think I need to adjust my swimming goal. I was just reminded at work of a few days this month were my pool access will be iffy at best for travel! Is it too late to drop it to 5000?

Hi Guys,

My name is Kenny (as you may have worked out from my ultra super spy cryptic username :-$). I am Scotsman. My son's friends think I sound like Shrek, hence the avatar and if I am honest, up until recently I was starting to accquire Shrek's physique too and that is why training for a tri became a reality. I live in the sunshine and dust of New Mexico so make sure I don't use the excuse of bad weather to not meeting my goals.

I am a newbie to tri's and to BT challenges and need to get some more solid consistancy into my training so here we go!

I only really stumbled into the idea of doing a triathlon in late Jan/early Feb this year after somebody I run with occasionally at work mentioned it. I thought why not......I like run and to swim, but my big challenge is getting out and spending time in the saddle so I am glad to see some keen bikers here to push me.

I ran my first ever 5k race in March. I am planning my first ever 10k run on May 4th and I have my first tri (actually a reverse Sprint) on May 11th so I am looking for some good strong training through April to be ready to at least finish these races without search parties being sent out.

My goals for April are:

S: 8 hrs

B: 15hrs (this looks scary....AARRGGGHH)

R: 7.5hrs

Anyway.....I'm glad to be a Pumpkin and won't let you down guys.

Let's go for it.

K

Well it would be but I've really cut back the taxi ambulance driving/riding to just at most once a week. I have to sleep there every other Friday night (7am to 7pm) but besides that it's up to me when I want to be there, so it's taking a back seat to training right now. Might be really bad if my job were stressful...luckily I mostly surf BT

Hi Pumpkins!!

Great to be on the team with you! HI CHR15 - yeah - on the same team again...

The rest of you are going to LOVE the pics from CHR15! will we see swimming pics this time!???

My name is Karen, this is my first tri season, live around Seattle. I've signed up for 2 sprints and may sign up for 2 more. Danskin Seattle in August and Kirkland (around Seattle) in September. Planning to sign up for Hermosa Beach sprint tri in October (So Cal). This crazy journey started with a fitness competition at work where we got aerobic, body fat, strength, etc... tested. I didn't like the results so I started working out more - got a personal trainer and started playing tennis alot. Decided I needed a goal AFTER the work comp is over SSSOOOOO - here I am!

My goals
Swim 4 hrs
Bike 10 hrs
Run 4 hrs

Feel free to put me on your friends list - I LOVE inspires and NEED the occasional kick in the
_ _ S!!

Nope - it's still March, so I can't see it being a problem. Just let Jen (Artemis) know. You can tell her via the sign-up thread. (The one stickied to the top of the forum.) She'll see it there.

Below you will find the link for your team's spreadsheet.  You can edit it with
username: btchallenge
password: challengeforum

Please take a minute to check your goals.  If they are wrong, or you don't have any, please change them.  No need to notify me.   Challenge goals should be finalized by Friday, 4/4.

The only columns you'll need to edit throughout the challenge are the ones for entering your progress.  Ex: Swim Completed.  Everything else is calculated automatically - the percentages, averages, even the day and progress through the month.  Please don't change them.

Let me know if you have questions!

-Jen

Nice one Jen, Thanks for setting us up.

This is my first challenge on BT and I am glad to see it so easy to keep it updated.

How often does everyone post updates? Is it supposed to be weekly or just put them in at the earliest opportunity after your workouts?

Let me know fellow pumpkins.

Cheers, K

Chris - geez that's chilly for a swim!  i guess you'll be in top form for OW later in the season though if you start now   I'm registering for an OWS seminar later this year because I know I need to do that before I actually register for a race with one.  Right now, everything I'm registered for or am looking at for the fall is a pool swim.
