Does anyone have solar panels for generating electricity for your house?
I'm thinking about it and my husband asked for an ROI analysis (return on investment). Not sure how to go about doing this, so am looking for some guidance.
Find out if you can sell your excess power back to the grid. Some places do it, some don't.
Also decide if you want to just have the solar cells when needed or if you're going to get batteries to store the power for later. That's a big cost (and needed if you want to live off the grid).
Also need to find out how long your cells will last in your climate. Snow? Hail? Cleaning?
Don't know about OR, but here in Colorado we also have companies that will 'rent' you the solar panels. They pay for installation and maintenance and you pay them something like $45/month plus the electric bill. Not sure what the break-even point is but I don't think you're current electic bill has to be too too high for this to save you money.
