Subject: IM 70.3 St. George Registration and time zone question
I really want to enter IM St. George 70.3 for next spring. I get sign-up updates from IM, and just got one saying registration opens next Tuesday at 10 AM Mountain Time (which is the time zone where I am right now). Is St. George one of those really popular races that tends to sell out in minutes/hours? It does say that pricing is based on "inventory", meaning, it seems, that earlier registrants pay less. Is it so popular that all slots will be gone in a matter of minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks?

Wondering about this mainly because we will be on the road that day, on a sometimes remote route that may or may not have a 3G signal everywhere, and the closest place I could stop around that time that would reliably have 3G or WiFi is actually in the Pacific Time Zone. (Weird but true--northern Idaho including CDA is not in the same time zone as Boise.) So would registration open at 9 AM there (since it would then be 10 AM Mountain Time), or would it be at 10 AM local time for everyone?

I'm pretty certain St George 70.3 hasn't sold out at all, historically.  The only thing you risk is going from Tier 1 to Tier 2 or higher pricing.  I wouldn't be surprised if Tier 1 goes fairly quickly, beyond that probably not so fast.  It's a great course with a very enthused group of local volunteers, and I guarantee you're going to enjoy it, hilly run and all.  I'm planning on joining you out there for the 2019 edition since I need some motivation to burn off all this extra weight I've added over the past year.

Thanks for the info. I did figure out from the info on the site (which says registration opens at noon East Coast time) that it is the same absolute time for everyone, just depends on where you are. In the interests of getting a better deal, will probably try to register as soon as possible after it opens, but won't get too stressed if it doesn't work out--we will be on the road at the time.

See you there! Have heard about that race for years and seen pics but it has always been when I am overseas. Taking a "gap year" so I am attacking some of my bucket list this year.
