Subject: RE: 07.09.2019 Tuesday Toughness Training Morning one hour run with some fartlek pickups.
Evening 2000 yards of swimming.
I'd always been more of an evening workout person until I moved to Vietnam and then got into triathlon. Then my job hours, the heat and traffic, the heavy afternoon showers and flash flooding during rainy season, plus the fact that all one's neighbors are up and quite noisily at it by 5:XX, all conspired to switch me to mostly morning workouts (except swimming ). I actually first got back into distance running there because I kept waking up at 5, couldn't get back to sleep, and didn't know what else to do with myself at that hour, so I signed up for a half marathon in Cambodia and started training for it.
Now it doesn't matter to me for bike or run. I don't like early morning swimming and never have--even when not injured, just feel stiff and slow. It takes me the whole workout to "warm up". As an adult, I only do it early AM if I have no other options (or, I guess, in a race ). Have been like that since I was a kid on age group teams. I was a different swimmer at evening practices! |
