Black Friday Shopping....What 'cha get?

a skateboard and helmet for my almost 11yr old's birthday on the 20th. Not very exciting but I also did not venture out to the store until after 11:30am - caught the tail end of the Modell's sale

For the most part, I was already finished before today. I only have a few things to pick up still and not worth the hassle of the stores today for those items.

I bought myself a Garmin Forerunner 305. (that was with my birthday money, though)

The kids got some legos, bath toys, and trucks. Now I need to find a remote control monster truck for a 5year old...

Radio Shack usually has a good variety of remote control cars and trucks...you can even buy them online

Against my better judgment, I went out at 4 am today.

All I wanted to do last night was read the newspaper after hosting Thankgsiving. So, my wife and I get to looking at all the ads... and started thinking we could get some good deals... and next thing you know I have a list and my alarm set for 3:30.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

It was as bad as you can possibly imagine and worse.

I got to Kohls at 4:05 and I could not even look at any of the sale merchandise because the crowds were too thick. There were no carts to be found so I had to carry everything with me... thus if I wanted to look at something, pick it up, etc, I would have to set all my purchases down and pick it all back up again.

Did not find any of the "doorbusters" -- too crowded to get to them.

Also waited 40 minutes to check out. Spent about 50.

Went to Meijer -- not as crowded, but no really good deals. Spent about 70, about half of which I will return.

Nightmare of all nightmares -- went to Toys R Us to try to get a mini air-hockey table for my kids ($40, regularly $80)--plus a few other things. . The line was literally around the entire store... plus up and back every aisle --at least an hour wait. I stood for a few minutes trying to determine whether to get in the line or not. I HATE shopping and I HATE lines... but I was there, and there was no way I would get this air-hockey table otherwise.

Then I noticed the customer service desk... I asked if I could purchase merchandise there and she told me she would check out people with only one item. Score! I abandoned the rest of my list, bought the air hockey, and headed home. Toys R US was full of angry, angry people. THere was no Christmas spirit in that store.

I will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER do that again. It was a complete and total nightmare.

went to best buy at 2am to get a $229 laptop but no go.

And you are probably better off because of it.

I went to walgreens for their sale...got a 2gb MP3/video player for SO...he calls it the best my birthday present he has ever gotten...my birthday was saturday...

Went to the mall at 6 but didn't find anything worth buying. Went to REI on the way home and got a new bike helmet, then online shopping when I got home and new running tights, tri shorts, running hat, and 2 bike jerseys for my parents for Christmas
Online's the way to go...no crowds and most places still have sales!

I don't shop on Black Friday, so I bought nothing. Except an obnoxiously large apple pancake.

I had to work but my wife bought us a new kayak and another digital camera. You an never have to many cameras.

I only ventured as far as it took to get a Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Awesome impersonation, I couldn't tell the difference.

But, that's not a pancake.  It's a small planet.

My LBS had a great sale so I stocked up.

2 pairs of tri shorts, 1 pair of cycling chamois, mountains of GU, gloves, ear-warmers, toe-warmers, new swim-suit...

I should apologize to my MasterCard for the abuse. My bad...

My local running store had everything 25% off. I only made out with a new pair of running shoes THAT I DON'T GET TILL CHRISTMAS! Mom's and her rules.

Then I went to Dick's and got some Adidas running pants for 25% off and a warm weather running hat. And a new pair of goggles.

No one has given me their wish lists yet, so it was all about me.
