Sidenote, when I was in Oklahoma and wanted to buy some of this stuff, I had to go to the "Hispanic" section. I found that funny. I went looking for the "Negro" and "Jap" section but couldn't find it. Only in Oklahoma I guess...

No, there are "hispanic" sections of my grocery stores here in Atlanta. Along with "oriental" sections too.

It's not all that hot, in fact it's quite sweet. Probably why it's so popular. You can put it on everything from chips to hoagies. Awesome on Pork Rinds.

Here in Tampa, they call it the "ethnic" aisle.

Speaking of the fine Mexicans working in the restaurants, in Atlanta there's a sushi joint called RuSan's. RuSan's has an open kitchen and it is filled with Mexicans making sushi. No big deal, I know.

They yell at each other in Japanese. And when you leave the restaurant, they all yell at you in unison in Japanese. Surreal.

I've met RuSan. Nice guy. Excellent sushi.

There are "Hispanic" sections in the grocery stores here.. Oddly enough the Tortillas are NOWHERE near the Hispanic or bread sections.. They are by the milk.. Takes me forever to find burrito shells when I shop.

Don't forget you've got to have the stuff in the squeeze bottle with the yellow cap to be a REAL mexican resturaunt

Wow, so this is a common thing outside of Los Angeles. I just figured Oklahoma was racially insensitive.

Actually, instead of segregating the foods, they could put the condiments with other condiments. Sauces with other sauces. Canned vege's with other canned vege's.

Why segregate? I don't go looking on the WASP aisle when I'm looking for Jello.

It does get confusing.  Like when I am looking for refried beans, I look for them in the aisle with the other types of beans.  And then I realize I need to venture to the "ethnic" food section.  It's great to have segregated foods if you're making a whole Mexican meal, but if you only need salsa, or beans then it's less convenient.

they have an 'international' food section, among other things, at the new (its been there for a year almost) wegmans they opened up down here. which is funny, since the one's i used to shop at up in rochester just put it all in the same aisle...  that makes more sense to me.

We got off on a tangent. All of you need to pick up a bottle of these drops from heaven and use liberally on your next Mexican dish - especially before you dig into your Christmas tomales.

I find it interesting here in Tampa where half the people don't speak english that there is a hispanic and a mexican section in the supermarket????  Really its not a burrito if the person making it can speak english.  Most of the mexican places here they have to write the order in spanish because the cooks don't speak english....none of that chain reastaurant crap!!

chucky... why r u giving out all of our secrets? this stuff is GREAT. newt tip is if you are eating a tamale and it isnt wrapped in a corn husk it aint worth eating!

The only food stuff i learned when i lived in augusta GA was that hot boiled peanuts were the nastiest thing, but georgians love them! They have them being sold off the street like we have "fresh ventura strawberries"

we have the ethnic food isle as well. Appearently Italian food is considered ethnic too, so all the noodles and canned tomato products are in this section. In the canned veggie section there are no tomatoes to be found.
