I can't believe it's going to be unseasonably warm all week, then cold on Sunday morning. Oh, well.

Just bought some LG arm warmer last night to wear for Sunday on the bike. We live in the Savannah area so we are driving up Saturday afternoon for the 4.5 hour drive. We are staying at the Candlewood Suites

Doug surprised me with a registration so I'll be racing too!  Not sure on my outfit, though.  I had a fabulous outfit planned this morning since it was 62 degrees during my run.  Temps in the 40s will change that plan.

Does anyone know anything about the transition from the pool to the bike?

Not sure about this race, but I have done a race with a pool swim. Basically, you exited the pool and ran out a side door to the transition area next to the building. The transition area was in the parking lot right next to the building. Easy as cake.

If you feel cold you aren't mashing hard enough!  You need to ask Karen how to be the Honey Badger.

Set Up Events does a nice job with these pool races.  50 meters in Ramsey will be nice too compared to a 25 yard pool.  No matter what, it's going to feel cold on the bike, so just have to grin and bear it I guess.  Got to remember toe covers! (I forgot them last year at the Downtown Columbia Tri).  Forecast called for 20 mph winds Sunday morning and into the day, but I just checked and it doesn't look quite as bad.  From the map, the run looks to be at the UGA intramural fields.  Some pavement, gravel, and maybe even some trails....

Borrowed some toe warmers from a friend... looking forward to the 1st Collegiate Race of the series! I'll be rocking with 5-6 of my Georgia State team members, 2 of which this is their 1st race ever. Will be fun, a bit chilly, but just pedal faster ;-)

Guys, tell me about the pool swim.  I get the snaking part, but are we allowed to do flip turns or must we tag the wall with a hand?  I am pretty darn excited about swimming in the Ramsay pool.  I ogled it from the track many times in my days at UGA.

I've done a couple of pool-based sprints and both allowed flip turns (not that *I* can do them, but they were permitted).

Flip turns should be fine... it'll get interesting though as they are sending 2 racers every 10 seconds, so sometimes flip turns don't work out all that well if it's getting crowded by the wall!

Even if I start out doing flip turns, I suspect that they'll go out the window if I run into the back of the main field (I'm racing as a novice).

I also realized with some amusement that this statement in the event details may end up pertaining to me: "Access to the transition area to retrieve bike and gear after finishing will not be allowed until the last athlete has started the run."

If I hold y'all up from getting to your stuff in transition after you're done, my sincerest apologies. Innocent

"Access to the transition area to retrieve bike and gear after finishing will not be allowed until the last athlete has started the run."

This pertains to everyone!  It is forecasted to be 45 degrees at 10am (yes, I am totally stalking the weather), so we will need to remember to leave warm clothes with someone outside of transition!!  I'm still hoping for a freak warm snap.

Right, it's just possible that I could be that last person coming in from the bike. Smiling and waving as the rest of you wait to get your stuff. It wasn't until well after I registered that I realized the true blessing/curse of being in novice and going off near the end - blessing being that I don't have to cope with approximately 75% of the field passing me on the bike, just novices and late registrants. The curse being a significant non-zero chance of being DFL coming in off the bike. I'm going to try to avoid being that person, but it is what it is.

John starts 200th... The later you finish the more people to cheer!  Bought John some arm warmers and a wind thing for his head on the bike... Oh and a new bike.  So if all else fails he will be warm and stylish.

This was a great race!  Set-Up Events puts on a solid event!

Ramsay pool was wide, deep and not too crowded, the bike course was hilly and windy (but fun!) and the run was about 1/2 on easy trails around Lake Herrick.  Awesome race.

Dashman did his first triathlon and passed people on the swim!  Zimmer's Clemson team swept the University segment (they were scored separately), Tri-ghost was an overall placer, Phat and the biggest little at his house won AG awards (me too) and we got to see FattyFatFat and Jillian and sample the delicious Athens cuisine (at Trappeze) with Jbyce.  I never found Paxsarah - hope you had a fabulous race!

I actually won the women's novice division! (Out of two, I think, but who's counting?) The best part is when I got my pint glass he told me, "You shouldn't be racing in novice." Which, everyone only has one first race so I'm not apologizing for racing novice this time, but it made me feel pretty darn good to hear that.
