Subject: Custom paint jobs?
I have someone who is willing to paint my bike for relatively cheap as long as he can put a decal on my bike.  I was curious to see what other people have done..  i was thinking, i was going to get the bike done in Flat black or in all white.. yeah i know...  boring..  so any custom paint jobs out there?

Boom

There is a guy in Athens that does a lot of the Centuries around here that has a bike painted like a John Deere Tractor.  He even has a John Deere jersey and shorts.  It looks pretty cool to me.

Is it true that with some manufacturers that a custom paint scheme voids the warranty?

Here's my TCR C-3 before/after pictures.  The before pic isn't "MY" bike- I had to find a picture of the original paint scheme.

I had one done at Hot Tubes the other one done locally by a guy who paints custom cars and motorcycles. I paid about $1,000.00 to have each bike painted.

A guy who works at my local LBS paints bikes.  He did mine for around $300 if I remember correctly.  Not sure if I got a special discount from him or not sicne it seems kinda low- but hey, I didn't argue with it.  I did end up giving him a thank you note w/ a $50 gift card for Bonefish for him and his wife to enjoy as an extra thanks!

I forgot to mention this- but apparently all white is the latest and greatest w/ bike colors.  So if you went all white, it would be cool

I only have a couple pics of my bike painted pre-rebuilt. I'll try to get some newer pics up, but as you'll see the guy who painted my bike got pretty detailed.

Getting a custom paint job is a nice way to individualize your bike, but can be expensive through some people. My guy (Peter Loran) is local, and he had done an airbrush job for me previously. He does some great work.

Wow, that frame is very nice looking. I love how he left areas that the carbon can be seen.

Yeah, I gave him a general look that I drew up, and told him he had free reign within those very general guidelines. I figure one of the nice things with a carbon bike is the actual weave. Why completely cover that up?

The way this reads is $500 per bike. Is that what you paid, or $1000 each?

Either way; damn.

I will post a pic of my custom painted Elite when I get home from work.  The firewall here prevents me from accessing photobucket.  I got it painted teal with bass pro sparkles and pink lettering.  I love it!

I think if you are going all the way with white, you should go for the white bar tape.  Yes it's a pain to keep clean, but at least before each race you can either clean it or replace it to make it look good.
