Math Whizzes: Help!!!!

Pro  5153    Helena, MT |  Subject: Math Whizzes: Help!!!!Ok, I don't have CAD or any other program (except for excel) and I need to match up and rotate some survey data. For example, I have two surveys of the same area, both in different coordinate systems. I have at least two matching benchmarks at far ends of the datasets. I can handle moving the survey data to match up, but don't really have to intellectual capacity to figure out an equation to rotate it. If you can help me come up with an equation, or lead me to some free software I can use, that'd be just awesome. Thanks! P.S. Survey data is in Northing, Easting, Elev format. Kim: If find the bearing between your two bench marks for each survey then you can take difference between the two angles and that would give you the angle you need to rotate it. If you can't figure out the bearings PM with the North and Easts of each of the benchmarks and I'll get the bearings for you from CAD Chris |

If so select all of one set, move the set of points using one of the benchmarks as your base so that it matches. Then rotate the set of points using the first benchmark as your pivot, matching the other benchmarks together. Just try it out and remember you have an undo. |

I can't figure out how to get the sets even loaded. :-p I'm an idiot! I have them in .txt files as #, northing, easting, elevation, code. I think it wants a .dwf.... right?
