This weather makes me laugh!!! It's not that bad outside! I know farther inland there was more snow and it was a bit colder, but as I drove downtown yesterday (Monday) on wet streets with a bit of slush on them, I honestly laughed to myself how the city shut down. I'm from Winnipeg and we wouldn't have even thought twice about shutting ANYTHING down after that!

Oh, it's funny!

The funny part is that they are so totally unprepared for anything. No sand, not salt. Not even plowing the roads...We have a foot of snow here....So you can't really get anywhere unless you go slow. Yesterday, I seen a guy stuck in the road with a jeep yj...Come on now, I drove by him....He was in the middle of the side road being pushed by his friends...So stuck in a jeep on a residential road being pushed as a suzuki aerio passes by....Now thats classic!

Yep, snowed down here in Chilliwack. Kids are off of school and I am off of work. So its all good.

Being from Northern Sask. This was just a dusting, but then, we had snowplows and graders out all night making sure it was ok. Here, lets send out the jeep

I totally agree that they're unprepared here! I just heard on the radio that they spent $400k on clean-up and they were saying how crazy that was. But, they've had trucks out since Saturday night, and then full crews 24hours a day Sunday-Tuesday.....a city this size $400k doesn't go very far when you think about that.

I also love the whole I own an SUV/truck therefore I can do anything! It's more on knowing how to drive your vehicle than what you drive. Nice work on passing the jeep crazypop!!

Here's something that ended up in my inbox:

Day 2 - Vancouver Blizzard 2006 - Revenge of the Commuters

Chilled Vancouver commuters faced their second day of winter hell today, as an additional ¼ centimetre of the peculiar white stuff fell, bringing the lower mainland to its knees and causing millions of dollars worth of damage to the marijuana crops. Scientists suspect that the substance is some form of frozen water particles and experts from Saskatchewan are being flown in. With temperatures dipping to the almost but not quite near zero mark, Vancouverites were warned to double insulate their lattes before venturing out.

Vancouver police recommended that people stay inside except for emergencies, such as running out of espresso or biscotti to see them through Vancouver's most terrible storm to date. The local Canadian Tire reported that they had completely sold out of fur-lined sandals.

Drivers were cautioned to put their convertible tops up, and several have been shocked to learn that their SUV's actually have four wheel drive, although most have no idea how to use it.

Weary commuters faced soggy sushi, and the threat of frozen breast implants. Although Dr. John Blatherwick, of the Coastal Health Authority reassured everyone that most breast implants were perfectly safe to 25 below, down-filled bras are flying off the shelves at Mountain Equipment Co-op.

"The government has to do something," snarled an angry Trevor Warburton. "I didn't pay $540,000 for my one bedroom condo so I could sit around and be treated like someone from Toronto."

That's awesome!! Funny part is that I can think of a few people that some of those things apply to! It's sad really.....

I haven't even been able to ride my new bike yet!

I'm buying a trainer today from someone on Craigslist, so at least I'll log SOME kms on it before the UBC tri, but c'mon already - I wouldn't mind actually STEERING THE THING before the race!
