I was a runner in High School. When I joined the Army the 2-mile run PT test was a cake walk (2 mile was my specialty). When I got to my duty unity, our first PT test I was leading on the run (2 loop course) the sergeants were like “your beating the XO, this is going to kill him.” I found out that was **his** thing, and he would talk a lot of smack. No wonder my XO didn’t like me. (I also did the same thing to my drill sergeant in my job training, the best part was I waited for him at the finish line, and cracked up when he puked at the line. I did a lot of pushups, all worth it)
Kick his @$$!!
I was the big fish in the little pond at boot, and when I got to my unit in Germany. But then a new guy arrived who was coming from the reserves (he was a Capt. in the Reserves and Special Ops and Ranger trained - the guy was a beast ) as an E-4 (took pay cut and rank cut so he could get the specific Joint Stars job training he enlisted for ). He always beat me and I was demoted to the 2nd fastest guy in the unit.
My boss here at work is the reason I am currently training for the 70.3 and did a marathon last year. He is a 14 time marathoner and an IM Wisc. finisher in '04 (11:45 or so for time ). I said "if he can do it, so can I" and am now on the training path to get there. He has no real short speed but can run 6:40's all day long ...... so I can take him in anything less than a 5 miler, but he'll crush me in anything longer. But I plan on destroying his IM time. |
