I'm strongly considering signing up. I'm about 95% in right now. I guess my decision to sign up is slacking because it's so late in the year and I'm anxious to do another one quicker than later, but we'll see. Who else is in? If you are in, where are you staying and have you done this race yet?

I'm really thinking about doing this race in 2013.  Lot's of local folks are talking about trying to get into IM Florida.  Having people to train with is nice but IM Florida just sounds boring to me for some reason.

I have stayed a the Hyatt the past 2 years and I will stay there any time I ever go back.  It is a little more expensive than other places you could stay, but last year I literally could see the finish line from the window in my room.  They have recently spent about $8 million I believe on upgrades to the lobby and other common areas.  It also has access the Louie Link skywalk system that connects to the convention center (athlete dinner & medical facility) and the Galt House (host hotel).  You will only want to use that if the weather is rainy, though.

Other hotels in the vicinity of the Hyatt are the Marriott and Seelbach Hilton.

I keep hearing the Galt house is best if you are racing. That is where I'll be when I sign up. I'm hoping to be healthier soon and then I will drop my $$ on the race. Healing up from this past year. OI!

The Galt House is the host hotel, so that gives it a leg up.  Here's my take:

With the expo and athlete check in, there is always a lot going on.  Also, the lobby, front desk & entrance are chaotic all weekend long.  That atmosphere is just not for me, I guess.  Plus the elevators are ridiculously slow and sometimes you have to wait several times because there are always athletes and bikes taking up all the spaces.

As someone who has done both IMKY and IMFL, I would recommend Louisville without a doubt.  IMFL is nice because of the ocean, flat (as least compared to KY) roads, and a flat run.  But you are right in that it is exactly kinda boring.  The finish line in no way compares to 4th St Live!

Just my thoughts.  And I'm also considering doing IMKY 2013!

I'm also on the fence, but one leg is already over I think.  I did this race in 2010 and had a blast.  I know it doesn't sell out quickly, but does anyone have an idea as to the anticipated sell out month this year?  I'm guessing sometime after the New Year??

2012 sold out about a month before the race. 2011 was Feb 24th or 27th.

I'm looking at this one, too. It's been 5 years since I've done an IM and probably 2 since I've done a tri. But I'm getting a longing to race again.

Did this last year as my first IM. Great experiance. I would stay at the Gault House. Everything is right there and you will not need to drive anywhere. I was able to walk to swim practice and the start. My wife was able to walk to transition and saw me 6 times on the course without using a car. The expo and registration are in the hotel and so are massages. You are within a few blocks of the tourist sites in Louisville as well. Hope this helps. Good luck everyone.

IMKY has been on my hit list and still is. I just had ankle surgery 6 days ago. I'm hoping and praying that I will be able to do this race. It's going to be a bummer sitting out the next 6 weeks. I'm hoping to come back healthier and stronger! I just need to keep a positive outlook on things. So far things are good. I only had one bad night of pain 2 days after the surgery. Yesterday I quit taking my pain pills. The doc called checking up today and I told her I had no pain and was off my meds. She was shocked, but I was telling the truth. I'm going to do everything possible to do this race. I guess it's what is pushing me to get better!

Rest and recover! You still have a lot of time before its crunch time.

After failing to sign up for IMAZ, I signed up for Louisville. This will be my first full IM, and I can't wait.

I think I'm most nervous about the heat and hubmidity of Kentucky in August. But, whatever, now it's time to get serious about training.

If the pattern holds, 2013 shouldn't be so bad.  The really hot years were 2008, 2010 & 2012.

I live in Louisville and did this race in 2011. My wife did it this year so it's my turn for 2013. Looking forward to hearing about everyone's progress on the training journey to race day!
