If you want to start to understand how all the pieces fit together, it's better to watch week to week. Although any given episode is creepy in its own right. I am enjoying it and at the same dreading that they will end up running it into the ground. The premise seems like it will work best as a 1 or 2 season show, gradually building up the tension and the reveals to some climactic point. But knowing american TV, it seems more likely that they will continue to just add pieces whether or not they fit based on continued ratings. Or, they will throw together some POS ending a la the American version of Life on Mars that just makes the whole thing pretty stupid in the end (like turning out to be a dream of one of the characters. That only worked for the end episode of Newhart). |

Pro 4824 Houston | Subject: RE: American Horror Story We are loving this show! I am so glad somebody started a thread. I tried to do the same thing via FB and a Mama board and got crickets so I was worried nobody was watching. I like it because there is a story and it is truly creepy but for some reason it doesn't really scare me or keep me up at night. It's the perfect amount of scary. However, I am also worried they will ruin this because that's just what they do. |

Pro 6767 the Alabama part of Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: American Horror Story Just finished catching up on the last couple of episodes, and it is looking more and more like a 1-2 season show. The various ghost backstories are getting filled in, and the roles of the various living people are coming together as well. Once we know all the mysteries, if they try to push the show, it will end up being very predictable. I'm already finding I am less creeped out by the episodes and more trying to figure out the interlocking parts (my money is on the reanimated baby as somehow being behind all the power of the house). |

Elite 3067 Cheesehead, WI | Subject: RE: American Horror Story Oh yeah! Love the show and that Rubber Suit Dude reaallllly creeps me out - who is he?!?!?!?!??!?!? I disagree with Gearboy about who's behind it....seems sort of Rosemary's Baby-ish too and the whole neighborhood seems to 'know' more than those living in there LOL. My only complaint is the freakin' thundering/crash/crack-type sounds during the 'theme' music. Once is good and effective but after about 4 of those unnerving sounds, I look upstairs to see if it's disturbing reverberation has awoken my son LOL. |

Pro 6767 the Alabama part of Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: American Horror Story I may be wrong about the reanimated baby (though it certainly is at the very least a pretty creepy thing). But I don't think the whole neighborhood seems to know about it. Just the neighbor, who used to live there. Which explains why her daughter used to just go in an play with the things in the basement. I wonder if the bodies get moved, do they get to finally rest in peace? That seems to be the implication with the maid. But that sort of implies all the bodies are somewhere on the grounds of the house. It would make it a lot easier to solve the problem of the ghosts, though - just find and remove the bodies. Of course, there is also an apparent implication that it is the act of dying on the grounds that leads to the hauntings. |

Elite 3067 Cheesehead, WI | Subject: RE: American Horror Story I hear ya Gearboy. I think you are right - if you die there, you stay there. NOW for those who have not seen many episodes, you may not want to read my post because there are hints as to what is to come. But I'm mostly rambling and trying to figure things out 'out loud' LOL) But I think that if the bodies are unearthed = they are discovered and vindicated. Moira (maid) was looking forward to having the pool put in by BJ (don't remember his name but you know what I mean) but upon learning from Jessica Lange that he was going to demolish the place and put in condos I got the feeling that her 'truth' would not be learned and thus she didn't want him to purchase the place any longer. There are a few people I'm unclear as to how they fit in - those twin boys (red heds); the 'boy' in the attic - is he Lange's or was he the 'baby from the original owners? And I'll lay odds that the obstetrician is in on it! Interesting too that so many of the people who died there were involved in a 'love triangle' or were adulterous. The seduction element of the show makes my skin crawl with the blurred edges of what's real and fantasy. Now, I gotta go watch my other indulgence - The Walking Dead. Hmmmm... maybe there's a theme going on here LOL |

Pro 6767 the Alabama part of Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: American Horror Story I think the attic boy is her son. She mentioned in the first or second episode something about having several children who were somehow "off". I don't think the obstetrician is in on it. But I think you are right about the thread of infidelity. Not all of them - the ginger boys are the most obvious example of not fitting into that pattern; and I am not sure about the original owners. But certainly the maid, the burned man, and the current family seem to have that connection. |

As a guy that lives in Denver & attended Columbine (Class of '94) it just hit a little TOO CLOSE to home. Other than that...GREAT SHOW!!!!! So many questions have been answered in the last couple of episodes |

Champion 6056 Menomonee Falls, WI | Subject: RE: American Horror Story *********** SPOILERS ***************** I just finished watching the season finale and I have to say, unlike "Lost", that is one "mystery/cliffhanger" show that did not disappoint. That said, I do have a few lingering questions, and I do wonder how the producers will keep the show going. Since they've killed off all the main characters except Jessica Lange, do they introduce a new family to come and live in that house or do they switch locations entirely? Will we ever see these main characters again or do the actors who take roles on this show know that it's going to be a limited-time gig going in? That would be a shame because I thought all of the actors, especially Jessica Lange and Connie Britton, did such an incredible job. I could see the producers retaining Jessica Lange as the character who gives continuity from season to season, but she's tied in so closely with her children that are now ghosts that I don't know if that's possible. As far as lingering questions from this season, I'd still like to know: How come Moira seems to be the only ghost who aged? All the other ghosts remained the same age as when they died. Why was it important for Moira's body and the body of Kate Mara's character to remain buried and undiscovered on the property? During the episodes when the family was attempting to sell the house to the Armenian investor, Moira seemed to want the guy to dig up her body because it would finally release her from her ghostly existence. However, many of the ghosts seemed to be tied to the property without having their bodies buried on the property-- there's now way that the bodies of the characters of Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott or Jessica Lange's young boyfriend would have wound up being buried on the premises and they were still hanging around the house. Also, why were some ghosts allowed to leave the property (Tate and the kids he killed) and others could not (the daughter, Moira, the gay couple)? Edited by scoobysdad 2011-12-26 10:41 AM |

Also, why were some ghosts allowed to leave the property (Tate and the kids he killed) and others could not (the daughter, Moira, the gay couple)? I have to admit, I was skeptical that they could make it last more than one season, but I think they can - although the tone has to change from creepy horror to more straightforward horror since we know most of the ghosts at this point. They set up the offspring to be a real "Damien" kind of character - pure evil, which makes sense given the father's story. I think they can keep going back to the house with him exploring the ghosts and getting "mentored" by both the good and the bad ones, as well as by the grandmother (who has her own special kind of evil going on). I think Moira is one of the ghosts who is aware of her status (there was a line in the series about how some of the ghosts don't realize they are dead) and therefore she has some control of her appearance. Remember she shows up as a superhottie to men, and until the father rejected her, he could not see her as she wanted to be seen. I think Moira believes that if her body is removed, her spirit can finally rest. But I think she is mistaken (like when the daughter tried to exorcise the one ghost). I think something about the house or the grounds keeps the spirits there after death. After all, we never really found out what happened to the original doctor and wife, and I am sure the nursing students' bodies were removed, as were the gay couple, and Tate. And Jessica Lange tried to drag her Down's Syndrome daughter onto the property to die there. So if the psychic was right about the house itself absorbing the energies of the spirits, Moira would have been better off letting the developer buy the property and tear it down. I don't think any of the spirits can leave the house, except on Halloween. That was part of the point of that episode (and the reason for the comment the one gay dude made to Tate (or vice versa?) about not being able to hook up with anyone that year). But on Halloween all the spirits are allowed to roam the earth - and the dead kids had been looking for Tate for years. |

Extreme Veteran 532 Munich, Germany | Subject: RE: American Horror Story Hey there. I LOVE this show! I was wondering about that Moira thing too. As to what happened to the original doctor and his wife - it was in one of the first episodes. Her child died and her husband (the doctor) was addicted to chlorophom (spelling?) and trying to play frankenstein in his basement. He got the baby back to life as some sort of monster (I think the thing that appeared in the basement during the first episode). Then his wife killed first him and then shot herself. So yeah. That's what happened to them About the leaving the house thing. How comes that Violet can sit at Constance's table but then again she claims not to be able to leave the house? |

I think they can keep going back to the house with him exploring the ghosts and getting "mentored" by both the good and the bad ones, as well as by the grandmother (who has her own special kind of evil going on). See, I thought that the evil child would just be a great way of ending the storyline of this whole cast. It kind of leaves a creepy open ending while putting a bow on the whole season. I actually think they answered too many questions with this house and set of characters to continue in this direction in future seasons. Only so many people could have lived and died in this one house, and let's face it, too many people are dying around Constance under mysterious circumstances for the police not to act. Hmm, I think that line was specifically to set up the twist where Violet turned out to be dead but didn't know it. I can't think of a single other ghost in the house that doesn't know they are dead. I believe it turned out that even Tate actually knew he was dead, though I'm not positive-- that was ostensibly the reason Constance was sending him to the psychiatrist. I don't think any of the spirits can leave the house, except on Halloween. That was part of the point of that episode (and the reason for the comment the one gay dude made to Tate (or vice versa?) about not being able to hook up with anyone that year).
