Wait...wait...lmao. Everytime I start posting on one of these socio/political op ed threads... well my inspire count goes to zero. Could be coincidental, or maybe not. I know some may consider my opinions as out of touch or politically incorrect but they're just opinions. And who judges people based on one or two opinions? I mean really.

Ha-ha!  The same happened to me after I posted on a religion thread!   Hmm....Don't worry Russ- I'll still inspire you.  In fact, I'll do it right now!

If it makes you feel any better I'm staying focused... right about 20 or so posts into that thread I realized nothing good could come of it so I haven't even peeked in since... as a result my blood pressure is low and my free time has been much higher.

lol, too true. Actually some good things did come of it, namely an idea of how broad the support is among straight folk for marriage/civil unions. So that's cool, especially since, of all of the cyber discussions I've read about this topic, none have been more civilized or principled than the discussion on BT. Says a lot about BT. It's one of the reasons I became a bronze member.

But now I'm happee happee like little girl about the NCAA tournament, with the GATORS playing tonight. Seems like it's always something - anything to distract me from training.

So I'm going to channel that energy into a short swim and a speed run ("speed" being a relative term for me).

Everytime I start posting on one of these socio/political op ed threads . . . my blood pressure skyrockets.

    So I don't.

Threads about alpacas, fine. Thread about threads about socio/political threads, fine. Threads about training, fine.

    Gay marriage thread, not fine.

I had to quit posting on those types of threads too.  I would get too worked up about them- and that's not good a good thing when I'm at work.

Look the only thing I'm asking is that you support the proposition that there is a problem posting on those types of threads with some sort of authority, and can we please define what "problem" means" How can we have a meaningful debate without first establishing the basic perameters of our debate.

Well, BT isn't a City Council meeting or court trial. It's jsut a bunch of folks that come together because they share a common interest, and sometimes shoot the sh*t about other topics of interest. I think if you look at these threads in that context, it's amazing that we do as well as we do.

But, if you want to talk to Ron or Marma about instilling Robert's Rules on COJ, then go for it.

Y'all get I was trying to make fun of myself, perhaps poorly. the above is what I say in all political/social posts. It wasn't meant as a serious comment on this particular thread. I was mocking myself in public, at least attempting to.

Obviously I didn't do a very good job.

No, you did.    I was just messing around with the Robert's Rules stuff.

I spent a couple years as part of an organization that used RROR.  It made for some interesting times when we pulled off shenanigans on technicalities in RROR.  Hehe.

    It's all good.
