Subject: Doubling a training program
I am thinking of doing the 20 week full marathon training program, but since I have longer than 20 weeks before the marathon,  was thinking of taking twice as long.  In other words, I would do Week 1 twice, then do Week 2 twice, then ....  You get the idea.  Is there any way to do this?  I have never loaded a training program into my log and am not really sure what it looks like or what changes you can make to the program as written.  Thanks.

There are a number of ways to modify your scheduled training.  You can drag and drop individual workouts, Move/Copy/Delete blocks of training by date or import specific ranges from a plan to your log. We don't have anything with that kind of modification in mind though, so any way you look at it you're looking at a fairly involved operation.

If you really wanted to take that training approach, the best way to customize the plan would probably be to import it to your Planned Training log as-is, then Export it to your computer as a .csv, modify that in Excel or another spreadsheet program, then Import that back to your training log over the existing plan.

Here are the articles on how to use these functions:

OK.  I just decided to do the 20-week marathon plan more or less as written.  However, instead of the strength training days, I want to switch that to Crossfit.  I figure that Crossfit achieves the same thing and I love Crossfit and can't give it up.  So, I want to delete the strength training entries and add Crossfit.  I see how to delete, but to either change the entry to Crossfit or add it, do I have to do that whole thing with importing it into a spreadsheet and then exporting it back into BT?  I'm nervous about trying that because I don't want to mess it up.

Also, the days for the strength training and the days I do Crossfit don't match exactly and so I would have to work with that as well, but I don't think that's a big issue, although there are two strength training days per week and I do Crossfit 3 times.

Thanks for the help.  This is a great site.

The easiest way would be to use the Copy/Move/Delete link in your training log to delete all of the current strength workouts.

To add them, it really depends on how specific you want the workouts to be. You can enter the workouts and same them as templates, or you could use the various Copy/Move routines to add them.

Details on using those are here.
