Comments: I just wanted to see how well my running was coming along since St. Anthony's is next week. It's definitely not where I want it to be, but it's better than it was, and I just gotta work with what I have...not what I used to have! What would you do differently?: Start off slower. I was really trying to do that, but since my first mile was so vastly different from the others, it's obvious I didn't accomplish it. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Jogged down towards the U-turn of the run and ran a slower runner in. I didn't know who she was, but I could see she was working so hard to keep going and I really admired that. All I could think of was how blessed I am to be able to have finished in 23 minutes, and how much harder it is on the people like her that took almost 40 minutes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of run training, especially with the speed work. Event comments: This race was actually the road runner's club's way of drumming up new membership. Entry fee was $25 and it included annual membership into the club. I got a great dri-fit shirt and even won something in a post-race raffle! I haven't been in Quiet Waters Park since before the last hurricane, and my GOSH, it took a hard hit. There was no shade on the course, and a lot of tree stumps where there used to be huge trees. Very sad. Last updated: 2006-04-22 12:00 AM

Was going to bike to race (only 9 miles away), but I slept lousy last night. Was going to bag the race when the alarm went off, but I couldn't go back to sleep anyway so I decided to drive over and do the race anyway.
Had my coffee and 1/2 Powerbar breakfast, and some water when I got there.
Pretty funny thing when I got there...being that the pre-race potty is my ultimate necessity, I found it funny that the park security had only unlocked the Women's room door this morning. So we had guys and girls all heading for the ladies room (some of the guys were too sissy to go in though). At one point as I was heading in, I saw a man and a woman exiting the handicapped stall at the same time! (I was afraid to ask)
5-10 minutes starting out easy, ending up with a few sprint intervals.
