Run
Comments: It was hot and it was humid. My main goal was to ensure I stayed cool enough and paced myself for the run. Mile 1 - was 8:30 pace but it felt like 9 to me. Mile 2 - was 9:15 pace but it felt like 9 to me go figure. I was hot now. Mile 3-5 were all at 9:30 pace. Wind made a lot of difference keeping cool. In some spots where there was no wind, I had to bring down the pace a bit. A ton of folks were stopping to walk in the latter stages so I fealt pretty good at how I was able to keep just cool enough to keep going. What would you do differently?: Go slower mile 1. Of course it seems pretty easy, dummy! Its the first mile! Post race
Warm down: Walked over to get a bottle of water. Drank it while walking around. After 5 minutes - stretched. Waited for family to complete the 5k walk. Daughter got 3rd place in age group - Nice! What limited your ability to perform faster: Legs have been feeling a bit pounded, but I think I'd need more overall aerobic conditioning to go faster in these conditions. Event comments: I'd have liked 3 drink stations rather than 2, but it was a fun event. A lot of folks. The little kid run at the end was cool too. Last updated: 2004-07-06 12:00 AM
