I know I'm not the only one on here foolish enough to sign up for this? Right?!?! C'mon guys...talk me through this.

20 week BT plan starts next week. This will be my second HIM, but pretty much the polar opposite of my first (Eagleman)

Who else is in?

I just finished the Eagleman 70.3. It was a rude introduction to the triathlon world. That being said, Savageman looks like a great idea.

BEST RACE EVER!

I was able to do it one time a few years ago but came down with a bug a few days before the race. Went ahead and participated, but it was a LONG day. Hoping to get back some time, but it's a long way from home!

It's a great race! I wish you the best of luck for good weather and a good time.

That said...it was the hardest 1/2IM race that I have ever done. Absolutely stunning views and bust your legs hills-on both the bike and the run.

When you go up the 'Wall', you will have your best chance to get a brick by going as slowly as you can up the first 3 tiers, saving your energy, and then pick a good line on the right side of the cobblestone, stand up and stay smooth and keep up strong power for 45 seconds. You will have to find the right balance point by leaning forward a bit but just focus on powering up for less than one minute and you will earn a brick with your name on it. I got mine last year after my second try. Make sure you are not likely to come up to someone too quickly. There is an order and a certain amount of separation needed between riders. The noise and cheering is chilling.

Then the hills (which are named) will challenge you like never before. Spin as much as you can and look around at the beauty of the land.
On the run, expect to walk a short section in the campground and on the Fireswamp Road, both time. Hold back on the first loop, the goal is to finish not win.

It is one of my very favorite races, but it is far.

My last year's race report.

I was not an official; I simply observed the race and the officials doing their thing. Here is what I saw:
