Elite 4583 | Subject: 10.27.16 Thursday Workouts! Good morning BT! 4:45am: :45 minute run 5:30am: :40 minutes upper body/core Karen glad you got some good sleep! That is never my problem as I have narcolepsy--as soon as my head hits the pillow I'm out. If I don't take my meds I can knock out anywhere at anytime--even sometimes if I DO take my meds! Robert...good luck on the Oly this weekend! That's a cool deal on the $100 half! My cross country team and I are off to Vegas today--Divisional Championships tomorrow---eeeeeek! I'm so nervous and excited for my team. They have definitely put in the work this season and are heading into the Championships strong. Top 3 teams go to State next weekend. Have a great day!

The effect was barely noticeable. Good luck to your team, Kim. Is the meet actually in Vegas, or is it somewhere cool, like Valley of Fire? Have a great day! |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: 10.27.16 Thursday Workouts! My day off today. Normally a swim day, but there was a meet all afternoon. I did stop in to cheer on some of my former and current students. We'll see if I can sleep tonight! I think I have the opposite of narcolepsy. It is NOT psychological--have been like that since I was a baby or toddler and too young to have any sensible thoughts; Mom is the same way. I can remember being maybe 3 or 4 and getting up at night to play, wander around the house, or secretly watch TV with no sound. I think we are both hyperactive in the classic sense of the word. We are both ridiculously energetic people (even now, she's like that at almost 80) and don't really sleep well until we crash from exhaustion. Thus, I guess, some of the attraction of endurance sports--it does tend to wear one out. (Mom still bikes several hours a week, and maintains a big house and yard.) Plus I have an active job, and no car here in Vietnam. It's a pretty physical existence. If I'm not physically tired (and that takes a lot of doing!), I'll lie there for hours, not thinking about much of anything but, "I want to fall asleep!" and my body's just like, "Why didn't we do anything today? We need to go do a workout, or plant a field, or hunt down a wooly mammoth, or something!" My dad claims we are some kind of evolutionary throwback to caveman that had to be constantly on the move! |

Just keeping the muscles limber and stretched. For some reason I just have so much anticipation for this race, excited to really make a PR. |
