Good morning BT!  Had to keep my usual hour as hubby and I are traveling 120 miles west to watch our younger daughter play volleyball.

4:30am:  2:00:00 on the bike trainer...it was a tough kind of grind 'em out longer intervals--hard but manageable.

Karen...I was starting to get worried!  Sorry to hear you're battling all sorts of illness.  I have a friend going through something similar--she's been down for about two weeks--it just hangs on and on.  I sure hope you're able to kick it soon and get back to training like you do!

Robert...that sounded like one heck of a workout on the bike!  Sheesh!

Have a great day all!

Tore the bike off the trainer and got outside. Seemed nice when I started out but then the cold winds started blowing over the Tehachapi mountains and into the Mojave basin. Seemed to be a little fatigued in the legs from yesterdays session. But added in some extra mile anyways to try and simulate what I might encounter in St George.

 28 miles, 1:40:25, 17mph avg, 134w avg.

My bike fit is off since I upgraded to the short 155mm cranks. My seat post wont go high enough without going past the limit marker, had to move seat further back to try and get a less then proper knee angle. So I have to order a longer seat post which for a odd ball sized 88 Peugeot is abit of a treasure hunt. (26.2mm)

Sigh--You are where I should be on the bike. I had gotten up to about 1:45 of harder riding and a nearly 4 hour ride at camp. Now I think I will have to start all over. Made it through some easy workouts here. Clearly getting better, but I am not going to be able to get back to normal training instantaneously--both asthma issues and lost fitness. Asthma really complicates any type of cold/flu virus--being sick and coughing vastly ups the hypersensitivity that is at the root of it, so it just goes on and on and requires all sorts of meds to control it. Normally I'll only have issues (and use a rescue inhaler) if the pollution is really high (field burning is my nemesis), or I'm exposed to certain kinds of mold or pollen for a long time or when training at high intensity. But if I'm sick, EVERYTHING sets me off. Ugh.

AM: 40-minute easy trainer ride
Noonish: 1600m (30 minutes) of easy swimming--mix of free, stroke, pull, and kick

About to head out and attempt an easy run. Not sure how it will go--outside is more problematic.

Today was a nice easy Z2 ride on the trainer for an hour followed up with a nice Z2 80 minute run.

Got my new Flo's suited up with tubes and cassette change over. Hoping to give them a spin tomorrow outside if the weather holds out.

Looking forward to getting to the pool tomorrow!

Do we really need chia, spelt, and quinoa? Is anything wrong with old-fashioned peanut butter, broccoli and brown rice?

We have new 10 and 20 week training plans for the New Year! These mini sprint plans are very conservative and will get any person thinking of training for a triathlon ready to cross the finish-line.

Cotswold super sprint - UK. Lots of bodies colliding, I swam half over someone, got kicked by some bloody breaststroker, and as a mob we poured towards the first buoy.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
