Subject: REI Killer deal on Garmin 305
Just called REI to ask about the Garmin Forerunner 305 multisport bundle. It is no longer listed on their website and I wanted one... They said that they shipped all of them out to the stores.
Called up the local REI store and asked when they will get them in and how much $$.
Was told November 21 and that they will have them on sale for $200.
Cannot find them under $275 on eBay or Amazon.
This is the multisport bundle which includes cadence sensor, HRM, bike mount, and quick release wrist mount.
What a killer deal. Just thought I'd spread the word.

Costco is selling for $159, starting on Nov. 14. Works if you have or know someone with a membership.

I found a 305 in the internet for $199.00. Not sure have you haven't found one below $275. It's pretty easy to find one for $200.00.

the OP is talking about the 305 w/ multisport bundle. not just the 305.  to the OP you can also buy the 305 for 159 from costco, and then pick up the quick release for about $5-6 and cadence for about $30 or so

If you want the 305 for your bike and run this deal is still cheaper than the Costco deal because this is the multisport bundle.
I am sure REI will have the regular 305 w/o the bundle for a price much like Costco.
Also much prefer a REI visit to a Costco visit =)

Sounds like a good excuse to visit REI.  Thanks for the tip on this bundle.

REI allows returns at anytime so if for some reason the Garmin stops working you can exchange it for a refund or another garmin.  My husband and I returned a bike trainer after using it for over a year after a plastic part broke off.....it was such an easy return, no questions asked. It's one of the perks of being a REI member in addition to getting the yearly cash back divenend.

On more expensive items like this....I would rather pay a little more and have the generous return policy.

I will take advantage of the bundle package at REI. I am a member of both Costco and REI and think they are both good deals, soo many people use a 305 now. Both REI and Costco have good return policies, REI has lifetime warranty on all products purchased from store.

REI for the win!

I could return my 301 w/HRM and basically exchange it for the 305 multisport bunde at no cost.

Not to mention that I got my current 301 when my 201 started to act up after 2 years. Returned the 201 and paid $50 to get the 301 which is going on 2 years now as well.

Buy from REI. If it EVER breaks, they will take it back, no questions asked. I love REI.

Does your Nike + actually work? Everytime I tried to get mine to work it was always really off. It usually was off by a mile or more. I had the pouch for the top of the shoe for the sensor and tried calibrating it every way possible and it never worked. I hated it.

Do you guys know if the REI deal will be available via web? We don't have a store here (dang, I miss that store).

We do have Costco, but you all have convinced me that the REI deal is the way to go :-)

I have been using an ancient Polar HRM, a Garmin 401, Nike + w/nano and a cateye. Sometimes I think I look like a robot with all that stuff - and from what you say the 305 multisport could replace all of that (except the music)?

whoohoo - Christmas and Bday wrapped into one, can't wait!

My Ipod just went through the washing and drying machines and it still works! It was encased in the arm running strap, so maybe that helped a little. The only thing is that it's a little difficult to use the front panel, otherwise, it still works great!

I too am having a hard time waiting...That is a killer deal.

Oh, this is killing me. I was all set to pounce on the Costco deal tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, the closest REI is 180 miles away! Can anyone confirm that this is an in-store deal only? Costco has a great return policy too. Slake707, you say you can pick up the quick release for $5-6, that doesn't include the bike mount too does it?

Well I am not sure how accurate it is since that is all I have ever used to measure distance. I am curious to see what it will be like with my Garmin 305 when I get it, if the same routes I usually run will be more or less miles than I got with the Nike+.

WHOOOHOOO!!!

I just got DH to agree to this for my Christmas/Bday gift...do you have source for the $5-6 bike mount and/or $30 cadence? My searching is finding about $20 for bike mount and $40 for the cadence, which puts the total over the REI price, not to mention buying from 2-3 sources.

HOWEVER, since I don't have an REI store here, would have to find someone to buy it for me and send it...oh what a quandry!

Advice???

Edited to add: also, the multisport doesn't have the foot pod? Does the foot pod buy me anything more than foot cadence?

Anyone wants one, I'm within 10 minutes of a costco, and work within 2 minutes of an REI, plus live within 10 minutes of another one. PM me, glad to pick one up and ship it.....or you can call them directly, and they'll ship it. Done that, too.

I'd call REI and check.  The woman I talked to yesterday didn't seem to have that idea (call and have them ship) in agreement with me.  I may try again with another person and see what they say.  She did say they can hold it that day for me (I'm 100+ miles from an REI...and it is a working Friday).

AHA! This is the thread I was looking for.

Apparently this sale is not yet. Two REIs are around me and neither has any in stock but the one said, "I wonder why there are 6 enroute... Ohhhh, that sale starts next week"

Turns out both stores have the multi-sport bundle inbound but neither have one in stock right now.
