The Original ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sir? That's what the girl working behind the Subway counter said to me when I went there on my lunch hour. Mind you, I'm wearing a pink shirt, have my lipstick on (very subtle) and am wearing some big hoop earrings. I just laughed. That's the first time that's happened to me since I shaved my head. |

I went in with a friend once and she order a 6" sub and the guy was like will that be all for the 2 of you. Yes we are going to split a 6" sub for dinner. |

Yes we are going to split a 6" sub for dinner. it was pouring rain one day (and here in CA they have a "rainy day special"). so i ordered the rainy day special and the girl said to me "its not raining." to which i replied, look out side its pouring, im wearing a jacket and im wet." the the manager said "i guess we could give you the deal." and all i could muster to say was "ITS RAINING!!!! LOOK OUTSIDE!!!!" |

Umm...maybe I'll start stuffing my bra! You can definitely tell that I'm a girl with the shirt i"m wearing- it's not like a loose t-shirt or anything. Yes- I think bra stuffing will help. |

I even had my purse on my shoulder I wanted to get the "I'm Not a Girl" one for my baby - no matter how much blue we out on him everyobe tells us what a pretty girl we have. The website is www.wrybaby.com - I don't think they make adult sizes though! |

I even had my purse on my shoulder Mayeb it's better if I don't get an adult size. Then it would fit REALLY tight and nothing would be questionable That's funny that people think you're little boy is a girl even wearing blue. People do that to my dog all the time- She was wearing her pink collarand leash and even sported a V-Day bandana that's pink and red. And people would still call her a him. I was amazed- I don't understand why that's not obvious. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Actually, this brings up something that I was wondering about. Janelle, if you don't mind sharing, I would be interested to hear how people have been responding to you since you shaved your head. For example, I know your co-workers knew you were going to do it, but are the reacting in an unexpected way? Is anyone? Or is it just a big "Whatever" ? |

I'll bet you smell nice, like a girl ought to smell! Apparently Bath and Body works needs to step it up becuase my scented lotion apparently didn't help me today. Maybe it's because all Subways have that distinct smell- you know that smell? I always smell like it after I leave- it's really strong. Anyways, she probably couldn't smell my scented lotion over the Subway Smell. Yes that's it- the Subway smell just overpowered my Bath and Body Works lotion. |

I agree they are not bright bulbs, but you get what you pay for and you're not going to get doctoral candidates for $5 an hour. I only order 3" subs. It's a more appropriate serving size. Maybe Einstein was only talking to your friend, or maybe you had your cloaking device switched on temporarily. Runnergirl, someone needs their EYES EXAMINED! Even with a shaved head you are still a cutie pie. The shaved head looks awesome on you by the way - so interesting! |

Janelle, if you don't mind sharing, I would be interested to hear how people have been responding to you since you shaved your head. For example, I know your co-workers knew you were going to do it, but are the reacting in an unexpected way? Is anyone? Or is it just a big "Whatever" ? Actually most people (friends and coworkers) are pretty cool about it. They tell me it looks cute or that I can really pull it off. Alot of them are surprised that it doesn't look weird or bad. I've had a few ignorant men at work tell me they don't like and prefer long hair. That's when I tell them it's not about them and if I cared what they thought I would have asked them before I did it. But when I go in public, most adults don't stare. They are actually REALLY nice to me- especially grocery shopping at Wal-Mart. Little kids stare at me really bad- which is undersatndable because they are young and don't know any better. It's usually the ones in the age range of 4-7. Perfect example- I was at Wal-Mart and a little girl who was 6 said to her mom" that girl doesn't have any hair." Last night when I ran at the Y Track there were some little boys at soccer practice on the field. I heard the coach yelling at one of the boys to pay attention and I looked to see that this boy was busy staring at me run by than soccer. ANother time I went out to eat at Chili's and had to wait to get seated. A little girl walked past me and was staring that she ran into the door. It was funny. I think the little kids are more surprised by it than the adults. But I think the biggest lesson for me when people stare or say something is to think how cancer patients feel. I mean, they actually lose ALL their hair- eyelashes, eyebrows, etc. So I always like to remember that. I would rather have people stare at me while I know I'm perfectly healthy and can grow hair, then for people to do that to a cancer patient. My heart really goes out to cancer patients- I may never fully understand, but I do have a better idea of what it feels like now |
