Actress Katie Holmes denied rumors she was going to run in this year's Boston Marathon, but the annual 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston will have at least one famous entry.
Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is entered in this year's Boston Marathon, the Boston Athletic Association announced today. He qualified for the race with a 2:46:43 finish in the 2007 New York City Marathon.
The 39-year-old Armstrong will be running to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which funds cancer research and focuses on improving the quality of life for cancer survivors. Armstrong battled and beat testicular cancer in the late '90s, going on to win each of his seven Tour titles after that from 1999-2005.
The Boston Marathon will take place on Patriots Day, Monday, April 21, and will begin at 10 a.m.
