I just read the USAT website today and they've just started a new event called aquabike.  It's for people who just want to swim and bike only.  Great idea, especially for people who's knees don't like the running thing.

For the first time in my life, I'm actually enjoying my running. But, I still think this is a fantastic idea! I'll bet there are a ton of people who would be able to take advantage of this, that can't withstand the impact of running.

This is awesome.

My 57 yr. old mother blew out her knee some 35 years ago skiing ( in the days before quick release bindings ). She's worked out her whole life ( up at 4:30 3-4 days a week ), and since seeing me do triathlons wants to do one herself ( my dad is getting roped in too ). She still ran afterwards, doing 5k and 10k races with a big old knee brace on, but it finally got too painful for her to continue so she hasn't been able to run in a long time.

I was going to do a relay with her, let her do the swim and bike, and I'd do the run. I've been wondering if such an animal existed and hadn't found anything yet. This way, it's all her race.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Excellent! I would love a race like this! Hopefully there'll be more nearby in the future!
