Total Time = 1h 09m
Overall Rank = 6/200
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 1/23
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30 and ate some oatmeal and drank some coffee and drank a yogurt.
Event warmup:

Rode my bike over to Cherry Creek rez to get my prime Transition spot that I scoped out the night before. I was the second one there and I got my spot. Walked the run course for a mile then came back, talked to a friend and ran a mile to warm up with some pick ups. I was feeling calm and fast today!
Swim
  • 15m 47s
  • 800 meters
  • 01m 58s / 100 meters
Comments:

I started out front and to the left side to avoid slow and fast swimmers. With in the first 100 yards a guy cut me off and hit my googles and down they came. This is the first time this has happened. The rest of the swim was good except I had to clear my googles 3 more times now that the seal was broken. I was still pretty well with the lead group so I was happy. One of my better swims. I actually got out of the water at 14:37.
What would you do differently?:

Swim over the guy that cut me off.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I went very fast and to get off a wetsuit, whew, smoking. 2 guys were faster, they must have gone wetsuitless.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 32m 31s
  • 13.7 miles
  • 25.28 mile/hr
Comments:

Went out fast like I was time trailing. Passed a few faster swimmers. One guy passed me and I passed him back and he past me one more time and toook off. He had the fastest bike split.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 27s
Comments:

I couldn't get me damn feet in my shoes. I had the greatest T2 spot and my t1 was almost as fast. Almost cautgt the guy who passed me on the bike, I was 3 seconds behind him now.
What would you do differently?:

Get my damn shoes on!
Run
  • 19m 38s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

The five guys ahead of me had faster run times. I caught about 3 people. One guy past me on the run. He was a 23 year old ITU Triathlete, so I didn;t feel too bad. I could not catch the guy who passed me on the bike, I watched him pull away and beat me by :45 seconds. I felt good. Mile 1 6:13, mile 2 6:23, last 1.1 7:02. No one was near me so I jog up the last hill. THis was a cool race because you could seee who was ahead of you the whole race!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Lots of free beer and snacks, massage (that sucked) Waited for awards.
I was first in my agegroup so I got a cool wooden medal!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing.

Event comments:

The timing was all screwed up by Westy Sports. I am glad I did my own timing today. My Swim and T! were the only ones that were correct. The bike course was way short, T@ time was non existent and my run said that I ran a 17:45. My watch said 19:38. I was happy to win my age group. I was really hoping to win the whole thing but there were 5 faster guys today. THe 1st place guy was 1:03!

Now, if you could only swim   j/k

Wow, blazing bike, run, and transitions!  It would be tough to carve 6 minutes out of your time!  Great race!  You sure you want to get together for midday runs?  Might be kinda slow for you

How did I miss this report?? Oh well - anyhow, great job!!! Way to pick up some hardwear to add to your collection

I can't believe you can run that fast after biking and swimming - I don't think I could run half a mile at that pace!!
