Pre-race routine:

up at 4am; breakfast of bagel, banana, protein shake; on the road at 5:15; on site by 6am; gel 30 minutes before race start
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 09m 15s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 19s / 100 meters
Comments:

slower than expected, but maybe the extra time was taken up in the runs to and from the timing mats
What would you do differently?:

swim faster!
Transition 1
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

short run to TA and very short run to the mount line; first time starting with the shoes on the bike; this worked pretty well, except that I forgot to open the straps on the shoes
What would you do differently?:

not much more I can do
Bike
  • 49m 36s
  • 13.91 miles
  • 16.83 mile/hr
Comments:

I did 47:27 on my last training ride, so I was hoping to at least equal that here; I don't know what happened :(
What would you do differently?:

push harder
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

did a moving dismount; I had never even tried this in training, I don't know where this came from but I hope to keep doing it in the future

the run from dismount was longer here, so the overall time is longer than T1
What would you do differently?:

briefly ran the wrong way but didn't lose more than a few seconds
Run
  • 26m 44s
  • 2.98 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

pushed this about as hard as I could; the uphills were tough, especially the last 1/2 mile including the run up the driveway to the finish chute
Post race
Event comments:

a good, smaller race; well run

Great job.  When I lived in MD this was my second ever tri.  I think it was in 2005!  If I remember correctly there is a killer hill (at least it seemed killer then) right at the end of the bike.

I also remember the transition racks were made of wood.

This website allows you to find the distance between cities or any two places using Google maps.
The calculated distance will be shown in miles and kilometers.Using this tool is simple; you can enter two cities or location names and press the measure distance button, and also drag the markers to desired locations. Every time you move the markers the
distance between them will be calculated automatically in miles and kilometers.
