Comments: Although still very slow, I did run this 5k about 1.5 mins faster than my last one, so that's something! Also, my IT band did flare up again, but not as badly as last time. What would you do differently?: Not much. It was a nice race! Just need to work on getting faster. Post race
Warm down: Again lots of stretching and walking for the knee. What limited your ability to perform faster: My general slowness and the IT flareup. Event comments: This race is very, very well organized and a very nice event in general. There were a ton of runners in the 10k, and quite a few for the half marathon. Volunteers were plentiful and knowledgable--always a plus. Last updated: 2004-05-17 12:00 AM

Similar to my first 5k, I ate some whole grain toast with pb about 90 minutes before the race, and drank some water. Unlike last time, I also took some advil to hopefully help the IT band.
Lots of stretching and walking around. My knees have been aching all week and I fully intended to walk if needed. I do not want to injure them further with only 3 weeks to my first tri.
