Subject: RE: 3.23.16 What's Up Wednesday! Good night from Saigon, where the low today was 78! 80-minute trainer ride this morning, with somewhat similar results. In my case, I think it was due to being overambitious about the watts I was trying to push. It was supposed to be 80-85% of the FTP from my last test, which my coach said was "HIM effort", but it was definitely considerably harder than that, at least at 5 AM and in the middle of a heavy training week. If I was pushing the bike that hard in an Olympic or maybe an international distance race (60+ km ), I would be getting worried about my ability to pull off a decent run! It would be suicidal in an actual HIM unless I planned to DNF after the bike, and even then not sure I could sustain it for nearly 3 hours!
But if the workout was easy for you last week (it wasn't in my case--I was using a lower FTP then ), then high effort with low HR is often a sign of fatigue/ overtraining/ impending illness. Maybe take an easy day and see how you feel.
Good luck with the schedule. Maybe if you are involved in the process you can push for some of the classes you want??
ETA: Also did a 2200m swim workout. Actually almost forgot. I think I need some sleep! Edited by Hot Runner 2016-03-23 7:56 AM
