Subject: RE: 6.25.16 Sizzling Saturday Had a very busy day yesterday, and some of it was training related.
Our local tri club had a training session. It was supposed to be an untimed sprint triathlon, but it didn't quite work out that way. We started out with a 50 minute or so open water swim in Lake Michigan. By my math after the fact, it looks like it totaled about 1.2 or so miles. After that it was a 12 mile bike ride. Once we got back from that, the beach goers were coming in by droves, and decided that trying to do a three mile run in all this distracted traffic may be a bit more trouble than what it was worth. To be honest, I was a bit tired anyway, but I did want to try to put the three pieces of the puzzle together once before my first real race.
While I was on the bike, I used my phone app to figure out how far we swam. I wish I had remembered to start the app when we first started riding though...
Having never done a triathlon before, I try to pay extra attention to what the others are doing. We weren't even in the water yet before I picked up my first pointer. That being that in open water swimming, you are supposed to wear a swim cap so people may be able to find you if you end up lost. It was suggested by another member that the seat is too low on my bike, so I will be tinkering with that in the next few days. I was thinking my bars were too high (but they are all the way down ), so raising the seat would make the bars "lower".
Have a great weekend all!
