Comments: The run went well. Mike and I ran together. He was having some difficulty with his calf so after we turned the corner at Mile 4 to come back down the gentle hill I pushed to catch a tri club member Mike knows. I thought he would go with me but he ended up not being able to hang on. I caught and passed the other tri club member at the 5 mile mark but was unable to catch any of the other runners ahead of me. What would you do differently?: Not much. I guess not have a race next weekend. Post race
Warm down: Had a 2 bottles of water, a banana and some peanut butter filled pretzels. I then ran/walked the 4 miles back to my house. Anything flat I ran, anything up or down hill I walked to try to stretch out my legs and minimize pounding. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fast run training. Event comments: The race started about 10 minutes late or so which was a little bit of a bummer but it gave me a chance to find Mike in the crowd of people at the start line. Ran 3 miles down to the start as a warm-up. Had a small bottle of water and a gel just prior to the scheduled start time.
