Goodbye Andy Reid. We loved you, we hated you, and lately we were just disgusted with you. At least you went out with a bang, 7-42 loss to the Giants. Wonder who we wind up with on the coach merry-go-round? Today was an especially busy day for team owners!

It's been a New Year's Eve Massacre in the NFL.

Unbelievable how many coaches & GM's are getting canned.

It did appear to all be coaches for whom "It was time for a change".  You could make a case for Lovie, but it seems it would be a case for a few more years of mediocrity.

Rumors were that Andy was going to SD. I wouldn't mind that too much but I'd rather have an upstart coach. Either way, I'm happy to be rid of Norv. I have been rooting against my team for two years so they'd fire Norv.

That's the Philly rumor. Personally I think he's a good coach who needed to look beyond football and take a year to focus on his family, and now it's come back to haunt him.

This. I believe PHL will get O'Brien from Penn State as he took the job before knowing the sanctions and has always been a pro coach anyway.

Lovie Smith was the surprise hosing this year. If 10-6 gets you fired, there is no logic. Yet Rex Ryan keeps his job. It's madness!!!

Word is owner Lurie had talked to Chip Kelly. Plus is that he would bring some excitement back to Philly football and we've always been an offense driven team. Minus is no NFL experience and our defense has been abysmal.

Chip Kelly from ND? Highly doubt that one. can you name 3 college head coaches with no NFL experience who have won a playoff game in the last 20 years.

Harbaugh, Harbaugh, and ...?

Chip Kelly from Oregon. It's all over the news, even NFL.com is saying he's the Eagles top choice. And that Andy Reid wants to go to the Cardinals because the Eagles sent QB Kevin Kolb there.

Yep, Andy Reid is expected to be hired @ Phoenix by Friday.  Word is the Bears want McCoy (the Broncos OC).  I'd love to see my Bears manage to actually score offensive touchdowns in the future.

I'd love to see Lovie Smith go to San Diego. I have no reason for this other than I want my favorite coach with my favorite team!

Would be a good fit. SD has tried to emphasize defense and Lovie would do well. Not sure what he does to bring Rivers into ine though; he's a bit of a loose end which needs a coach to reel him in and I don't see Lovie as that guy.

yep: But what does KC offer as a positive? At least at AZ he's got half a defense and a QB he knows and likes. Plus the best reciever in the league.

Used to, but Vick doesn't have the legs he once did. They could start there, but they'll need to draft for the future to make the spread work.

5 pro-bowlers.  1st round draft pick.  one of the highest payrolls in the league.  They have talent.  They had a crap coach.  They should never have gotten rid of Haley.  That was their biggest mistake. I think he could have taken this team, as it is, quite far.

Maybe my current disgust with the organization is clouding my view, but I am ready to take the hit for next season and clean house. All they are doing with Vick is delaying the inevitable, plus the odds are 100% that he will get hurt before half the season is done. However, if Kelly does come to Philly, Vick does fit his type of offense. Plus I don't see Geno Smith being worth a draft pick.

I really want to see the Eagles build on defense. It's been pitiful since the loss of Jim Johnson.

Ya know; the more I think about it: Who really needs defense anymore? Draft speed on offense. That's what's winning games. You can't touch a reciever, you can't hit a reciever, no one runs the ball (except Minnesota). Why emphasize defense? Draft o-line, pick up wide reciever in free agency at their peak and draft and hold a QB.

Look no further than the Saints for an answer to your question: we do! It's great to have 6600 yards offense and average 29 points per game but if you give up 7000/28 your going to finish around/under .500.

Exactly the team who came to mind. But there were far more mitigating circumstances for the Saints this year. Look at New England: All their focus is on offense and a defense which can protect inside the 20 with interchangable generic parts. Except for Wolfork who counts for about 3 guys...

No mitigating circumstances last season when the Saints got beat by Alex Smith and made him look like Steve Young in the process, or the previous year when they missed 14 tackles on a single run by Marshawn Lynch, each of which ended the season for them. Not saying you have to build around a defense but you do have to have some semblance.
