Subject: RE: Methinks Tom Cruise could use some RitalinI've never been one to care one bit about a famous person's personal life...my few bucks goes to whatever entertainment they provide me, and that's that. I like some of the movies he's been in, he's not a terrible actor unlike many of our uber-good-looking idols who can only pretend to be the same persona over and over again. And he was in a Stanley Kubrick movie, which immediately makes him OK in my book.
But I do think it's interesting how people are reacting to this. I mean, it's made it to CNN like it's big news. Is it the shattering of the idol image, do you think? Celebs should be seen and not speak unless they have bland views that everyone can deal with? I'm not picking on anybody here, I think what he's said recently is totally whacko (and Scientology...don't get me started ). I'm just curious why it matters to people. Is it a projection of a fantasy that this person is the same as Joe Average, and now it's been destroyed?
Seriously, I want to know. This stuff is fascinating. |
