Subject: Marathon 2 weeks after mini-sprint?I'm trying to plan out my "big" races for next year. I'd like to do the Mini Mighty Man in mid-April and the L.I. Marathon in early May - best guess is that 2 weeks separate the races. I haven't picked a free training plan yet, but I have two questions: 1) Is this sequence of races reasonable 2) Should I pick a marathon plan and add tri-specific work to it or should I pick a tri plan and add marathon work to it? This will be my first triathlon, second marathon (in 10 years). I haven't set a time goal for the marathon yet. My logs don't reflect it, but I've been running steadily for the past 6 months and sporadically for another 3 before that. My A-race will be the Nations Tri in September. I'm assuming I'll have plenty of time and base fitness to prepare for that race. |
