Is there such a thing as a GOOD, INEXPENSIVE hotel in Boston during the marathon weekend.  Just started looking, and they are either booked up, or off the charts expensive!  Any suggestions out there...I'm thinking of a VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER at this point.

You can stay farther away and take a bus in the morning of the race.  Many of the local running clubs sponsor buses from off site (usually its like $40 -$50 to ride with them) and drop you off at the starting line and pick you up at the finihsing line.  I know HTC has a bus from Manchester, CT, but that's probably too far away for you.  It might be worth looking at the clubs closer to the Boston area.

Have I got the inside scoop for you!

I did Boston in '08, getting my registration in in March.  We stayed at the Embassy Suites in Marlboro, MA.  It is literally 5 minutes from Hopinkton.  They have parking at an industrial complex, I parked in the EMC corporate parking lot and a shuttle bus that takes you to the start line.  When the race is over, there is also a complimentary shuttle bus that takes you back to the parking lot right to your car.

I used to travel to Marlboro for business all the time and the Embassy Suites is a decent hotel.  Granted, you are not in Boston, but you can sleep in on Monday morning and not have to catch an early morning shuttle bus out to Hopinkton.

Ah shoot.  I got a suite at the Double Tree cause it was very close to downtown. The price was VERY good, and they have free shuttle service to anywhere in the city, so I jumped on it. BUT, this WILL NOT be my last Boston, so I'll keep that little advise for the next one!  Thanks!
