Sorry, I just can't help it. The TV show House is so bogus, it's painfully insulting. But somehow I need to keep watching to figure out what the hell's going on. Anyone else feel the same way?

Watching TV instead of training?? Oh, you must be on your trainer. No, but seriously, what's it about? I'm stuck in law school class right now (I know, I shouldn't be on the internet)

IT's a medical show, and the main character is even more obnoxious than the obnoxious doctor on Scrubs. WHat makes it bogus is that the doctors (residents?) really have no clue how to examine patients or make decisions. Every physical encounter with a patient looks like an actor pretending to be a doctor. I know it's not supposed to be totally legit, but it's just insulting. tonight, the resident diagnosed the patient with a "coma" within five seconds of the patient not talking to her anymore. She did a pupil exam without even opening the eyes enough to see her pupils. They gave ativan to her within 15 seconds of her starting to sieze (not indicated), and they tried to force what looked like a bic pen between her teeth while she was siezing...yeah, great way to get her to inhale a pen, or get your finger bitten off. Dr. House looked into a resident's personal medical file...a violation that costs about $50,000 if reported, I can go on and on and on. Just wondering if anyone else was bothered by it.

The only people bothered by it are medical professionals.   I work in a lab and rarely have contact with patients, so I have no idea what happens clinically.   But spew off lab results, numbers, etc, and I'm your gal.

I wonder:  are lawyers bothered by the Law and Order series?  I'm not a lawyer, but I enjoy the one on Sundays (with Vincent Donofrio).

Are law enforcement bothered by NYPD Blue, or Law and Order?  Do they enjoy watching COPS?

Seen House a few times, thought it was funny and yes obnoxious at the same time.   I don't have cable anymore so I can't watch the cool shows on Discovery.

edit: I just read this and it may be taken the wrong way.  No, I'm not being sarcastic or snippy, these are valid concerns.  How does one relate to watching a show about their own career?  Do they think it's a joke, or are they pissed off at how the public will perceive their jobs really aren't?

This is too funny! I love House. I think he is really funny. I do find it wierd that they never get it right the first 7 times they treat the patient

I work in a crime lab and my wife won't let me watch CSI because I keep screaming at the TV

So, I understand

AdventureBear...I hear ya. I never thought to question how ridiculous it may come across. I watch it with my 13 yr old daughter because she loves it and it seems to be a cool introduction to mystery medical arena. She is finding biology so fascinating and so this show seems to spark all kinds of questions and interests for her.

Like Lucy mentioned....I was a school teacher for a difficult population, and so many people would ask me if I watch this Boston high school series and of course did I see "To Sir with Love". I keep telling them...."thats the movies", at the end of one hour I don't get my students to see the light, quit drugs, get over racial hate, decide to go to college and square away their abusive homelife.
