Subject: be careful out there today

Not sure if the planets are aligning against us or the shoebies are in town, maybe both, but be careful out there on your ride or run today! I have always read the threads about dangers of riding and running, because except for a few jerks running red lights/stops during runs, it's not too bad. Today I was repaid in spades. Neighbors dog ran into me, car almost ran me off the bike lane and someone tried to shove me off my bike when a white pick up drove right next to me! (Luckily I got real small and they missed.) Maybe I have been lucky and it all caught up with me today, but be careful out there today.

Glad you're still around to warn us!  I totally understand almost being run off the road - people don't pay a whole lot of attention...but to try and shove you off your bike???  I can't imagine what would be running through their head with that...for a laugh? what an @$$hole....

He he.  Had a ride like that recently.  In the span of about 15 minutes: 1. Rolled within inches of a generous sized copperhead snake in the road (yep, they are poisonous) ready to strike.  Fortunately, I was going about 25mph and he didn't get a chance.  2.  A bumblebee hit my collarbone just inside the small area exposed by my slightly unzipped jersey and got trapped underneath.  Fortunately, I was able to extract him without getting stung.  How, I don't know.  3.  I am going down the steepest hill on my ride at about 35mph when a dog decides he would like to smell something on the other side of the road and he trots right out in front of me.  I clipped his tail with my front wheel and spent the next 30 seconds trying to catch my breath from the near death experience.

I had planned a two or three hour ride, but after the dog incident I decided someone was trying to tell me something and I just went home and parked it.  Figured I had used up all of my luck for one day.
