Aw, man. First Andy Griffith, now this. Who next, Barbara Billingsley?

RIP, Sherman. You were hilarious. I hope you get your piece of the pie.

Jefferson's was a real shift for early-mid70's TV programming: financially successful African-Americans on television were a pretty rare commodity in those days. Because he played the role so convincingly, Sherman Hemsley has always been kind of iconic to me.

I absolutely LOVED The Jeffersons!  How many tv show theme songs make me want to sing out loud?  Not many, but The Jeffersons is certainly one of them.

Sherman Hemsley was THE MAN!  All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Amen...the man was a sit-com legend.  Watching him get ticked off on those shows was a joy...the man had so much energy.  RIP Mr. Hemsley.

No, it wasn't Ma Cleaver, but Chad Everett from the tv show Medical Center;  at first I had him confused with the guy from Marcus Welby (Mr Barb Stresisand).

Mr Everett died from lung cancer and was 75.
