I would have had a better time if I had known the course better. I ran with a lady who I do tri's with. We kept a conversation going. To some degree it helped my mind from getting off focus.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hills and heart rate. Had trouble catching my breath at the high heart rates.

Great job on the race!  The almost even splits on the race shows some good pacing ... and the fact that you could carry on a conversation with your racing buddy is a strong indicator that you were below your LT.

Bummer about the race starting late and the lack of t-shirt (isn't that why we do these things? ) ... based upon your consistent training and gumption shown, hopefully you picked up the next size available as you'll be able to wear it sooner than you think!

Bill,

Congrats on completing the event.  It sounds like you adjusted well even with the race starting later than advertised.

Those hills can be tricky and so your time is definitely a solid indication of your thoroughness in your training and your ability to manage teh course, even though you dind't know it well.

Great job....you've definitely given me some added inspiration.

Jon

Way to go! I love doing races with other people, even if you don't stay together, it's more fun to have someone to start with. I hate hills, so I admire you for taking on that course. One down, and more to go!

Bill,

Sorry so late to acknowledging your race report! You did great! Just to get out there and race at this time of year is a huge accomplishment I feel. Congratulations!
