I was sitting down putting on my socks. My friend who was the race director came over and yelled at me for wasting so much time. He asked me how hard I had worked to cut 1:00 of of my 500m swim time or even my 5K time." That made a lot of sense to me. I finished 8th overall only 3:00 behind the leader. I wonder how much further up the standings I would have been had I practiced my transitions. I have devoted much more time to practicing my transitions now. Non Tri-related Premarital counselling by our pastor. "When going into marriage, have no expectations on what you want from the other person. Appreciate what they bring." |

I thought about that quote when I forgot my bike shoes at a tri last year. I had to pedal the best I could when I could, in the rain. I still tell myself that quote as I'm racing sprints. You go all out. On the bike and on the run, when you can go fast, GO FAST! Especially when cresting hills, downhills and on the flat stretches. "Make hay while the sun shines." |

I ended up running a PR 1/2 marathon! "Get your bike set-up and get down to the water early, relax and watch people enter the water. You're wasting energy being nervous." - Coach Paul Fronhofer (pfron) said to me after I called him numerous times the night before IMWI 2007.

It is much easier to pick up :30 in each event than 1:30 in one event" -The guy who won the last tri I competed in. "The elite athlete needs about 65% carbs"- Running Coach "Get more sleep"- just something I've always seen recommended and now that I am getting more sleep I actually notice much faster recovery times from minor injuries. |
