Subject: RE: Your chance to be Omniscient, Wise & Forward ThinkingAs an individual, I know the human race will not take action to avert or mitigate any climatic risk (like global warming ) or economic risk (like exhaustion of global oil supplies ). The desire to ignore these risks in favour of what the French would call "la pensée magique" (magic thought ) is too strong.
So, with that in mind I would evaluate my particular situation and encourage others to evaluate theirs. I live high enough above sea level to not be particularly concerned about the rise is water level. Quebec is rich in fresh water and hydroelectric power. We, in all likelihood would be seen as the new Saudi Arabia, rich in what the rest of the world wants, water. This richness, though, would put us at risk to our neighbours to the south who would probably like to avail themselves of some of our riches. Assuming we could supply the US sufficiently in fresh water, and that the US is willing and able to pay, we would be fine. OTOH, if not, we could be at risk for invasion by the US.
In the case of an invasion I don't see very much that we could do. Lie back and think of England, I guess.
