So I'm looking into picking up a bento box for my bike....

I'm seeing the traditional bento box with the velcro mesh top...and then the Fuel Boxes that have the zip top...

What are the benefits to a velcro vs. zip top? Is one better than the other?

I can't decide which is less of a "no fuss" during race conditions...

Thoughts?

I find the fuel belt boxes withthe zipper easier to get into and more rigid when digging things out.

x2

I have both..Fuel Belt ones have plastic inserts that hold up well plus they come in cool colors like fast Red to match fast Red bikes.

I use a FuelBox and  leave it unzipped on rides.

I looked at a few designs and thought they were pretty much all the same, so I let price be my guide and picked up a Bento Box TRZ (aero wedge-shaped) for under $10 on ebay. Holds tons of junk and has an interchangeable mesh top and solid top for foul weather.

I mean, you're not having to crack a 3 digit combination lock to get into your stash, so does it really matter? - It's just velcro or a zipper.

I find that the velcro bento boxes are a little awkward as I'm left handed and the top opens right to left (if sitting on the bike to give reference to R and L). I'm just saying...

The Bento TRZ has velcro on both sides, making it either easier or a conundrum for ambidextrous folk.
