Subject: RE: First TimerWelcome! Advice: Get ready for the swim. It is a real shock the first time you swim in a triathlon. Sighting, staring into the murky water, and folks swimming into you. Try and get in at least one open water swim (OWS) before your race. This will help with sighting and the murky water. On race day seed yourself accordingly before the swim. There is a temptation to get near the front and on the inside, but that isn't very smart. Avoid the tangle by starting on the outside or a few rows back. Unless you are a very strong swimmer and can sprint out in front you do not want to be up front. You will have a faster and more enjoyable race if you can avoid the rough start. Don't forget to have fun. It's a blast! |
