it appears new bikes for 2010 are going to be less expensive than their 2009 counterparts.

specilized looks lower as does trek.

It will be interesting to see what effect this has, if any, on the remaining 2009s in stock come dec/jan/feb when 2010s start coming in.

take the new Trek, MSRP of $7100, vs $8300 a year ago.  Not only would a retailer have to drop this below $7,100, but significantly below $7,100 to move it.

their basically the same bike, same components, different colors is the only realy difference, but I could be wrong....

maybe i'm reading into this too much.....

I was at a bike shop on the weekend and the owner told me Cervelo was increasing their prices by about 7%.  Of course he may have been saying that to convince us that my wife should buy a bike now and not in the spring....

Yeah the prices have dropped on Specialized. I got the Allez Sport triple for the same price as the 09 Allez triple. But I think they downgraded some of the parts.

Nope, I've been hearing that for a while that 2010 models will be significantly less than their 2009 counterparts. Some will have downgraded components, but a few are the same across the board.

Good to hear.  I want a TT bike.  Maybe I can scoop one up in late winter at a good price.

Opposite of what happened last winter.  08 to 09 jumped about 10% or whatever it was and shifted the prices of everything.  Strange how that shift may have only lasted one year.  Did something happen with the derivatives that make up the bikes, like the commodities or labor in manufacturing or is margin just taking a big hit because of the economy?  Mixture of both I assume...
