Thanks to my big mouth calling my wifes bluff I am now registered for my first 1/2 Marathon, looking forward to finding out where my run truely stands, I have never done a half before and am doing Muskoka 70.3 in September. So the goal is to finish comfortably, and not have her school me too badly.
Have a great time! The Ottawa race weekend is awesome. I've done the half twice and the full once. Just beware of the weather and start in the right corral. it's a big race! Only one of the three years I did it was it cool. The first I did the half it was blinking hot and the year I did the full the half started earlier than previous years but people were still complaining about the heat.
I won't be there - trading some of my running for this tri stuff ... :D I'll also be at Muskoka 70.3.
I'll be pacing for the full marathon, really looking forward to it as I hear its a big deal! Good luck with the 1/2, dont let all the adrenaline and fanfare get the best of you early on in the race!
x2 - Ottawa is a super race experience - a lot of very fast people so you can pace along as fast as you want - great crowd support. I will also be at Muskoka 70.3 - the Ottawa half is well positioned to give you an idea of your fitness. Enjoy!
I wont be able to make it all the way to Ottawa, but an planning on doing Muskoka 70.3 also. Is it a really good idea to run a stand alone half before my first HIM?
